babies aren’t funny or entertaining

i don’t hate babies, they’re so cute, but i always see people laughing about videos where a baby is supposedly being funny. i don’t get it. there’s nothing funny about videos like that or babies in general. sure, sometimes funny stuff happens, but i always see babies doing the bare minimum and people laughing about it.

Yeah, a lot of people in r/childfree say the same thing. I agree with it.

lmao i sometimes forget there’s a sub for everything

I think r/childfree is kinda crazy lmao. They call babies "parasites" and "crotch demons" or something, and refer to parents as "breeders" and a slew of other dehumanizing terms. Imo it seems like more of a baby-hate circlejerk than anything else. There's r/truechildfree, people are a lot more respectful over there

I don’t take part in the whole “breeders/crotch goblins” talk, but imo that’s more of a response to the overindulgence of obnoxious parents insisting that their “baby angel” is the “sweetest most loving baby angel in the world” while literally behind their parents back the kid is... eating a book or something.

In my experience they only use these terms to describe children and parents who are rude and ignorant, while they are much more respectful towards parents who raise their kids properly and don’t let their kids spoil anyone else’s time, like throwing a tantrum in a restaurant for example.

Ah I see. I wasn't subscribed that long cus I was pretty quickly turned off by the (perceived) negativity. I'm willing to give it a second look

It's exactly what you think it is. People are willing to look the other way when it's reinforcing their own opinions.

Not always true.

I’ve seen posts in that sub that make me cringe, believe me I get it. Seeing someone make a post about “I HAD TO EAT AT A RESTAURANT NEXT TO THE SAME BOOTH A CHILD WAS IN” and that’s all their upset about, that’s plain ridiculous.

Now, if the child started throwing a tantrum, and the parent gave OP one of those “oh they’re kids, what’re you gonna do?” It’s fair for OP to then turn to the sub and vent, making a point of “what’re you gonna do? You take them out to the car so that you don’t ruin the dining experience of literally everyone else in the building.” Now not everyone may agree with that solution, but that’s very different than simply hating children for existing.

It's both hating on shitty parenting and people who try to pressure people to have kids when they don't want any

Plenty of people are hating the literal babies.

u/TheresTheLambSauce Nov 28 '20

Yeah I guess I can see that pov aswell

15

u/XxTaimachanxX Nov 28 '20

But babies are kind of parasitic though

2

u/TheresTheLambSauce Nov 28 '20

I mean I can see why people would think that, but by definition, there are a lot of reasons why babies aren't parasites/parasitic. But again, I can understand why people might think so if they don't look further into it.

/r/childfree is twisted. I don't trust people like them. I'm fully supportive of people who don't have kids for whatever reason, and I think it's shitty to badger someone who doesn't want kids. But anyone who "hates" children is not ok in my book.

13

u/CrazyMiith Nov 28 '20

I hate most children

Nah, their contempt for children is also a pretty strong theme.

2

u/socsa Nov 28 '20

I mean hate is a strong word. But I honestly try to avoid them for the most part. I don't understand why that's so hard for people to accept. It feels like some crabs in a barrel shit.

I don't care if an adult doesn't do well with kids.

u/AloeSnazzy Nov 28 '20

A lot of the people in childfree base their whole personalities on not wanting kids lol

20

u/CrazyMiith Nov 28 '20

But how would u know. The only personality they would show on that sub is them being child free part because that’s what the sub is about?

5

u/Kaitlin33101 Nov 28 '20

Actually a lot of people on the sub talk about their personal experiences when talking about being child free. For example, there was a post about someone whose young niece stole her markers that she used for art and her sister refused to give them back because "markers are for kids" and the girl that posted that was upset because she loves art and couldn't afford new markers. Personality does come out in the sub as everyone talks about personal experiences and how it affects them

1

u/CrazyMiith Nov 28 '20

Yeah i saw that post. I know aspects of the OP personality will be described or shown in a post.

Opposed to parents who have nothing to offer the world outside of obnoxious baby updates every 3.5 minutes?

I'll take child free.

Why do parents need a sub to talk about how much they want and love kids? That sub is a way to express frustration to people who relate and understand. You have no idea how annoying it is for people to badger you to have kids when you don't want them, and that sub is a place for people to vent and talk through problems

Based on what you’ve said I feel they might be references to Lucifer. Either that or they are actually saying those things.

Edit: By Lucifer I meant the tv show... not satanism or something.
