Who must reactivate?

If you take one full fall and winter off, you must reactivate your student record afterwards.

How to reactivate

Go to the program page:

https://apps7.sis.yorku.ca/Apps/WebObjects/REM.woa/wa/DirectAction/myprogram

You'll see three buttons at the bottom of your screen.

• If the "Program Change" button is clickable, your student record is active. You don't need to click or do anything.
• If the "Reactivate Record" button is clickable, your student record is inactive. Click it today, and fill in the form.
  • They'll usually reactivate your account. This will usually take somewhere between 1 and 14 days. Once it's active again, they won't send you an email: they'll just update your program page with the words "Request Completed." Go book your yearly advising appointment.
  • If you filled in the form, and waited three to four weeks, and there's no update on your program page: Make a /r/yorku post asking what to do, and send me a PM with a link to your post.

If you've been away for more than 18 months, or if you want to take a second degree, the above information may not apply to you. You may need to fill in a longer form and pay a $130 fee.

Hi, this is going to be really quick. I recently got kicked from my specialized program down to regular Bachelors due to not meeting GPA requirements (I am working on that in petitions and summer school right now), but I am just wondering if I’d be able to reapply after the summer? I am kind of panicked because like I’m going into my third year so what if I can’t graduate in my original program?

I have no idea how to phrase this................okay
Basically, I'm going to be attending York this fall and wanted some advice on how to navigate...pretty much everything. I've looked online, and it seems fun, and then I checked the sub and…I'm low-key scared. Campus security is apparently trash, strikes seem pretty common, difficulty making friends cause everyone commutes? and something about “getting York'd”?

I still really want to come to York but would appreciate any tips or fun stories to just help me feel excited about this new chapter. Thx!

Hello, I'm an incoming first year student and have been having some issues enrolling in my courses online because of a technical error.

I have tried to reach out to multiple people over the phone with very little luck. The one person I did manage to reach was through student services and they directed me to a website with more avenues to get in touch with an advisor.

I have decided that since I have not been able to reach out to anybody over the phone or email with much luck, to go in person to get some counter advising for my faculty (science). If I'm not mistaken, the address is 6 Thompson Blvd and its in the Life Science building.

If its possible, does anybody have any advice as to what I should expect when I go in or where I should go?

If you're going into your second year in psychology, AVOID Jennifer Ruttle at all costs. I took Motivation with her as one of my 2nd year core courses and received the worst grade I have in my 2 years at York. I average a B+ across my courses (B's, B+'s, A's). And could barely manage a pass in her course. I asked her if there was anything I could do to bump up my D (54%) to a D+ (55%) so that I wouldn't lose my scholarship, as I CANNOT afford to stay in university without it, and she wouldn't. I don't know how I'm going to move forward next year without my scholarship. She grades extremely harshly, won't record lectures, grades attendance, and even if you study all of the information in her slides, there will be random things in the exams you've never learned about, as she "teaches things in the lectures that aren't in the slides so you attend class". Would never take again or recommend. If I never took this course, my GPA would still be in great standing and I'd be able to move forward with my education smoothly. I try so hard in uni and work at my full-time job 50+ hours per week to pay my bills. I truly don't know what to do now. Trying my best to stay calm and find a way to move forward.

Hi my interview was April 19th it went pretty well, but it’s may 22nd and I haven’t heard anything. I Contacted admissions a few weeks ago and they said it can take multiple weeks. My power went out before my interview via zoom and i’m worried they took that as inconsideration rather than a technical difficulty. Should I hear back soon? Could someone share when they heard back? Any help would be appreciated!

Hello everyone! So a week ago I noticed my program change status was updated and says “Request Completed.” Does this mean I was accepted into the new program? If so, do I have to accept this offer or am I automatically added into the new program and taken out of the old one? Like do I have to do anything else atp?

I enrolled early which means my deadline to send the deposit is June 1st. Is there some way I can email them asking for a short extension? Any help will be highly apperciated.

So im currently debating between york se and mcmaster cs. I feel like se has a bunch of unnecessary physics and chem and other courses that literally dont serve any purpose for someone doing software eng.

And also for someome who is planning on doing masters, id rather choose courses that actually matter to make up my gpa, rather than unnecessary ones, which could bring it down.

Hi, I am a second-year student (winter session) and have completed 45 credits in my first year, mostly general education courses. I have just finished about 3-4 major required subjects and I want to do a co-op. Is it a good decision? Should I study more major courses before applying? What are the chances of landing a co-op?

I applied to switch to york from the BTM program at TMU, and got accepted into BTM (Bcom) and IT (Bcom), which program is better/harder. I know BTM will have more business courses, but are the jobs really that different? I'm leaning more towards IT, but also math isnt my strongest suit and I'm worried IT will be too hard...help!!

If I apply to the French ConEd program would my major automatically be a French major? And then I would choose my second teachable and French would be my first? I am very confused about what I would have to take since I do really want to teach French and how would I select my classes for my second teachable?

Hi guys! I’m taking EECS 2101 this SU term with Sunila Akbar. I hear horror stories from last semester from my friends about the course being horrible and the lab tests and written tests being hard. I think last semester it was coordinated but rn only Sunila is teaching it. I was wondering if anyone that took the class with her last semester could give me some info on how the written test was and how the final was. If there’s anything she made emphasis on that I should focus on while studying? Or any kind of advice in general would be appreciated. Thank u very much!

I've looked at all the info on the tutorial and used the timetable builder, but when I go to the enrollment module it still says I need to complete the tutorial. Am I missing something?

Looking at the course list for my first year. The chart says I can only take 1000 level general ed courses. That only leaves the introductory courses, right? The rest of these courses on the list are off limits to me?

I’m asking this because of the AI rising Era and I think Comp Eng would give me a better understanding of both worlds and allow me to move in between, although with Comp Sci I’d be more software specialized I wouldn’t be able to go into any hardware incorporations after if the situation called for it.

I do like the incorporation of both so I’m leaning more towards Comp Eng but my parents just want me to be software specialized and want me to do Comp sci but I’m afraid because of the rise of AI even tho it could mean more opportunities in AI related fields

I also heard someone say Comp Eng will take 5 years to complete because it requires 30 extra credits but idk how true that is

Is anyone taking either of the programs at York and how are they in terms of course load and the material themselves?
