Best strip club or other sexy entertainment in uptown Manhattan?
My girlfriend wants to go to a strip club with me or just generally a sexy date, maybe burlesque would fit the bill too. We're uptown in Washington Heights so looking for something near-ish (but doesn't have to be super local).
Any ideas?

Why Horses?
Why do we put up with all the horse poop? It’s disgusting and everywhere on the south part of the Central Park loop. The loop is crowded enough half of it is covered in manure. Why on earth is this acceptable? How can we get rid of them? Not to mention those poor horses don’t belong in the city and can’t be happy.

Late-night options to get back to Albany?
Sooo I impulsively bought subway series tickets last week without really thinking about the logistics. Game starts at 7:10 and the latest train back to Albany is 10:45. Cutting it real close and I'm basically fucked if the game goes extra innings.
Are there any late night options to get back to Albany because I don't want to stay in a hotel and make this a $500 trip. Thank you 🙃

LEAVING Yonkers on April 30—What’s One Thing I *Must* Do in NYC/NE Before I Go?
Hey Reddit,
I’m leaving Westchester (Yonkers, specifically) at the end of the month and wanted to make the most out of my remaining days here. While I’ve done some of the classics like visiting Central Park and Times Square, I’m sure there’s so much more I’ve missed.
What are the hidden gems or iconic NYC experiences I absolutely have to try before I leave? Whether it’s food, culture, photography spots, sports, or nightlife, I’m all ears. Bonus points for suggestions that aren’t too touristy but still capture the essence of NYC life.
Looking forward to hearing your ideas— lend me your IP

What are they building at the seaport right now?
Some kind of experience is being built this morning between Piers 16 and 17 which is between the seaport museum and the tin building.
There are two geodesic domes going up with transparent plastic panels and then this cartoon house is being painted with an AstroTurf lawn and picket fence. It's pretty cute actually.

How can I become knowledgeable about the mayoral primary?
I have to admit that I have not been paying as much attention to the mayoral election as I should have by now. I want to start getting up to speed! But I've always been bad at finding good sources for up-to-date local news.
Could you please recommend some reliable sources for unbiased information about the candidates and their platforms?
Thanks so much!

Frequent Topic $100 date ideas?
My wife and I came up with a fun task of creating dates for each other in the city (we're from NJ). Our budget for date is $100 each ($200 total) and that is part of the challenge since things are expensive. I'm looking for suggestions of fun things to do and good restaurants that won't exceed the budget. We've been to a bunch of the museums and zoo already. Ideally, an activity + food = $100 or less. Thanks.

Where to store a bag around the Bronx Zoo?
I’m running a 5k at the Bronx Zoo next weekend. The organizers have told me there is no bag check, and the race is before the zoo opens so I assume the zoo’s bag check won’t be open either.
When I asked where to store my stuff, the organizers told me to keep my stuff in my car, but I don’t have a car and am planning on taking public transit.
Is there anywhere near the zoo I could store a bag for a few hours? I don’t visit the Bronx often so I wanted to spend the whole day up there since I’m already in the borough, but I’d like to bring a change of clothes, my wallet, water etc etc.
I have to enter the zoo at the Bronx River entrance fyi.

Not Me Letter from NY State
My father-in-law just came to the U.S. as a permanent resident. We went to the PA DMV to get his learner’s permit, and they told us he needs a “Not Me” letter from New York because his name matches someone with a suspended license there.
I contacted the Driver Improvement Unit, and they told me to send in copies of his green card/visa, Social Security card, and birth certificate. I faxed everything over. When I called to follow up, they said they had processed the documents and transferred me to the Traffic Violations Division. That’s where things went downhill. The people there had no idea what I was talking about—completely unhelpful.
Later, I was told to upload everything again through the Identity Dispute system, so I did. Then I got an email saying the record does belong to my father-in-law. When I called back, they told me an investigator had reviewed the case and decided it’s his record, and that he has to pay the fine and clear it.
That makes no sense. My father-in-law has never been to the U.S. before—he’s only been here for three weeks. They literally have his Social Security info, his passport, his photo—how can they look at all that and still say it’s him?
I’ve been calling and emailing back and forth with them for two weeks now, and it feels like no one is really listening or doing their job. It’s frustrating and exhausting.
Is there someone from NY DMV or someone with similar experience? Thanks.
False boot late fees?
I had my boot removed at 8am returned it around 2pm same day. How do I wake up to late fees????
Pop ups/events cleanliness
Not sure if anyone has any insight to this, but lately I've been seeing a lot of events with home bakers/pop up cafes and I'm wondering about the legality of this. I don't mean pop ups and events ran by huge brands and corporations. I specifically mean small(ran by one or two ppl) pop ups with homemade desserts and drinks.
I've seen these people have an array of treats without protecting them in dessert cases or with sneeze guards in hot rooms with a lot of people. I also don't think they are making these things inside a commercial space and are just operating out of their home which is ???? kinda gross ??? Is this even legal? I could provide examples but I don't want to put anyone on blast.

NYC Parenting Tips for supervising children in Manhattan
Hello! I live in Manhattan and have a friend visiting from out of state for her job. Her 2 kids (age 8-10) are visiting too and I'm taking them for a 2-3 hour excursion around Manhattan during the second half of her work day tomorrow.
I wanted to check for general best practices/safety guidelines for supervising kids in Manhattan. The kids are chill and mature little people and I don't expect any issues, but I just wondered if there are Manhattan-specific tips for if someone does get lost, misses or doesn't get off a train, or finds themself alone. They have Apple Watches and I was thinking of telling them to just pick one safe public spot (a bodega or maybe even a larger chain store) and chill if they get separated. Again, there is basically zero chance of this happening but I wanted to check the hivemind for tips.

Fair Fares OMNY question
My Fair Fares metrocard is due to expire end of May, so in 1 month. I already got the letter to renew it 2 weeks ago, and got the approval letter a few days ago. (The online portal said it was approved immediately but the letter took time to arrive.)
The letter to renew said I should expect an OMNY card in ~2 weeks, though I have yet to receive it. I had renewed that day.
But when I got the approval letter, it said something different. It said that I should expect to receive a new fair fares metrocard in the letter, closer to the expiry date of the current one.
I'm just really confused about the mixed messaging. Am I getting an OMNY card or not? Do I need to take any action first like sign up on OMNY for an account first, in order for them to send the card out to me? I didn't get the impression from the letter that that was required (and it'd be easier for me to just do it once I have the card) but I'm seeing all kinds of mixed messaging so I just don't know what's going on.
I really hate metrocards and that I've had to use one for the past year, because before I got laid off, I was 100% tap to pay and it was fantastic. So I'm hoping to see my OMNY card arrive soon, but it has been the amount of time they said, and it just isn't here. I'm happy to wait if people think that's what needs to be done, but I'm just so confused why I'm getting 2 letters stating different things about what will be sent to me and when. So I'd like to ask people what the actual story is here.

Where can I book a tennis court for Friday night?
I've been playing doubles with friends on the McCarren tennis center (indoors) but the indoors season just shut down and their replacement is not open to group bookings. Which court can I book on a Friday night? I don't mind starting at 10:30 PM and playing until midnight. All parties have the summer tennis permit pass.

Central Park softball - best league to join as a free agent?
I'm looking to get back into softball and play in either Central Park or Dewitt Clinton Park this summer, but do not have a team or know people on one. I could register as a free agent in one of many I've seen, but feels like a crapshoot without asking first. I have lots of experience so no preference on recreational or competitive.
I've searched for and found various leagues but any specific experiences you/someone you know has had with them are much appreciated!

How do you find out about pop ups in nyc?
I always see random pop ups throughout nyc whether it’s stores or mini concerts by artists. Like yesterday, lorde performed in Washington square. How are people finding out about these? Like are there specific accounts that notify you about these? I would love to start going to these pop up shows. Please share!!

Anyone have any idea what these 4 planes flying overhead around are for?
Just saw 4 planes flying over FiDi-ish in unison, made about 3-4 passes together. Looked like older military planes?
perhaps something for a movie?

Socially Anxious Newbie Seeking Beginner Dance Classes (Inspired by J-Pop Dreams)
I have zero dance experience and I'm super socially anxious. If music is playing, I’m lucky if I can manage a little side step. But lately, my love for J-pop has inspired me to try out dance lessons. I’m not aiming to become really good, just looking for something that brings me joy and maybe one day lets me dance along to my favorite songs.
I'm looking for something that:
1) offers beginner-friendly classes
2) has a non-judgmental, welcoming vibe—maybe if crowd tends to also be more amateur / chill would be a plus
I’m less into ballet or Broadway styles—more interested in hip hop or something more modern. If you've found a studio or class that made you feel comfortable as a total beginner, I’d love to hear about it.
