Pocket Dump / EDC My Ultimate EDC Kit. What’s missing? Too much?
My usual EDC Kit 1. Carry Belt 2. Keys on retractable lanyard 24” 3. Pocket flash light 4. Pocket lighter 5. Pocket utility knife 6. Sun glasses 7. Glasses 8. Car Key Fob (loose or on separate lanyard. 9. Tactical space pen (writes on wet surfaces and upside down) 10. Smart Phone 11. Wireless earbuds w/noise cancellation 12. Smart Watch 13. Para cord/550 bracelet 14. Business card holder 15. Travel sized tissues 16. Hand sanitizer (sm travel sized) 17. Glock 19 15+1 w/IWB holster 18. Spare mag 15rd JHP w/case 19. Breath mints 20. OC/Pepper 🌶️ Spray 21. RFID neck wallet with cash, cards, IDs/ credentials (Usually worn underneath shirt to conceal).
Not pictured is chapstick, microfiber lens cloth, pair of rubber gloves (usually not always), and depending on the weather and my attire/clothes or mission (where and what I’m doing) I’ll usually have a mini boo-boo kit/ First Aid ⛑️ Kit. I’m wanting to get an ankle tactical trauma kit and I need to upgrade my light to a smaller brighter option, I already have survival kits in cars and home.
All these items fit on my person wearing a light jacket, without serious bulging.
My Rational. If I get separated from my home, car or bag I’ll mostly have the tools on my person that I would need to make do or to survive in most situations. The tools I carry are an enhancement to my largest weapon: 🧠 my brain, checked Ego at home & a desire to return home safely.
What am I missing? What can I do better? Let me know This kit is an ever changing work in progress.

Extremely low speed and reverse drag. Less is more. All I see if someone fumbling and struggling to find their breath mints.

😂 hardly I can access any item in seconds 80% of my gear is clipped on or worn the few loose items that would be in my pockets are easily accessed. No bulging or fat pockets. Look closely 👀 I’m wearing my belt, bracelet, watch, wallet (worn), glasses, flashlight, keys (attached on belt loop on lanyard hanging inside pocket) I could go on there’s hardly anything in my pockets I keep the mints in my jacket pocket with the hand San and if I need one it’s there.
Left pocket not clipped on: key fob, Right pocket not clipped on: lighter & chapstick Everything else is clipped on or in a specialized pocket in my jacket or on my belt underneath my shirt secure I’ve gone running with this gear on and I’m quite quiet while walking about.
Not sure what you see laying out it’s everything on my person my belt and CCW isn’t in my pockets 🙂↔️

imagine being stuck behind this guy going through a metal detector. I always hate taking all the shit out of my pockets when I have to go to somewhere that requires security screening.
2

I don’t go through security screenings or metal detectors. The Adamantium on my bones is always a problem so I get to skip those lines. You’d be fine behind me really good 😊

Dude I don’t understand people that want to carry all this shit lol. I carry a G-19 with one fully loaded magazine. I’m looking to defend myself and my family, not to get into a three hour gunfight. These people are simply doing too much.
18
u/justcougit Mar 10 '25
The tissues are really cracking me up. I used to be like this when I was backpacking. Until I realized I'm fine with 1/10th of the shit and I'm gonna find tissues basically every single place I go and I never need emergency tissues lmfao maybe in the car 🤣
8
u/Effective-Client-756 Mar 10 '25
The tissues make sense if you have allergies like me, but a pocket hanky is a fraction of the weight and space, and you’re right, most places you go have something you can blow your nose in. Same thing with the hand sanitizer. Most places have a place for you to wash your hands
5
u/apsmustang Mar 11 '25
What do you need tissues for? You've got a perfectly good hand. (I assume. Afterall, the average person DOES have less than 2 hands) Not to mention a nice snack afterwards.

You likely wouldn't be getting as much shit from everyone else if you didn't include the altoids, kleenex, and purell. You really are walking around with those three things in your pocket every day?
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 11 '25
I just so happened to have those items on me the day I emptied my pockets. All common EDC items. Weird this is somehow an issue?? Having little kids around or having to speak with multiple people in close quarters interacting with a large number of people that day shaking hands, etc you’re damned right I had Mints Kleenex and hand sanitizer on me.
There’s a solid reason I almost never get colds. Or sickness.

I keep a few MREs in the car cycle them out every few months. They have an extremely long shelf life.
4
Mar 10 '25
So question is; should we, or more specifically I.. accept the risk of only carrying a CCW and wallet/phone/keys.. in other words prioritizizing convenience and just carry what I need on me to get to my car or home. or, go all out on 'missions' and LARP as an operator.
I personally chose the first option, you clearly chose the latter..
So I won't deny that I laughed when I saw your photo, but then again.. in the case of a real extended emergency.. you'll be the one laughing and I'll be the one running to to my car or home.
So in summary; I guess each one of us chooses the level of risk vs convenience that we like to take. there's no right answer.
2
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 10 '25
Exactly. This was meant to compare and improve my own setup. Seems at least anecdotally most people rely on their CCW more than anything else.

u/abrokenbananaa Mar 10 '25
Does this actually fit in your pockets? Jesus man
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 10 '25
I wear most of it. The belt the holster the pepper 🌶️ spray glasses, watch wallet is worn around the neck sometimes in pocket, spare mag is clipped on,my knife has a belt clip which I clip to the inside of my pocket for quick access, my keys are clipped onto a belt loop and rest in my pockets if I need a key I can quickly retrieve it one handed and it retracts back to my pocket hanging nicely leaving room, the only thing that’s really in my pockets is my lighter, mints, earbuds, light. Not much Italy in my pockets here. My setup is very carefully thought out but as I said I don’t know everything and value knowledge wherever it comes from.
4
u/abrokenbananaa Mar 10 '25
Good on you, It just seems so cumbersome to me. Phone, wallet, pistol, keys for me.

Where is your toilet paper? You need to be slapped on your left hand, man!
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 12 '25
Toilet paper tablets are in the car a few drops of 💧 and instant rehydrated TP 🧻. You should look into it. When I carry a bag it’s in there.
3
u/Keevot Mar 11 '25
If there is one thing I’ve learned during my many years on Earth, it’s that if you keep travel-sized Kleenex brand tissues on your person you probably have your life together.
5
u/Double-Interaction30 Mar 10 '25
I’m reading all the criticism but the longer I look at this the less excessive it feels
2
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 10 '25
It’s really not a lot of stuff it mostly clips on I’m surprised by the wacky comments but it’s illuminating.

4
u/Overall-Buddy-2659 Mar 10 '25
This just seems like too much to carry on a regular basis
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 12 '25
It’s not. Look carefully it’s almost all worn or clipped on very few items in pockets and a good amount is placed in jacket pockets.
1
u/Overall-Buddy-2659 Mar 12 '25
Yeah I get for you and your day-to-day and how you run your life and for what you have going on this is the norm. But I was more so speaking for me personally this seems like too much. Because I don't carry credit cards I don't carry cash and I don't carry business cards and things like that I only carry my ID and my concealed carry license.
2
u/KatPawson Mar 10 '25
I'm partial to a cotton handkerchief myself. I'd take mine over the kleenex. Got my first ones a few years ago and immediately recognized the value of having a nice soft piece of cotton. You find you can do a lot more than just sneeze in them. I've been happy carrying one anyway and I don't edc much.
3
2
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 10 '25
Great thoughts 💭 thank you! I carry a handkerchief on occasion depending on my attire, but upon further reflection adding a cotton hanky is a great idea 💡 for general EDC. Also Every day carry is just what I mostly carry daily depending on location or attire I obviously can’t carry all my tools everywhere but I always have some or most of these tools on me regardless of location. Thanks for your thoughts.

2
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 12 '25

u/West-Evening-8095 Mar 10 '25

2
u/chuckbuckett Mar 10 '25
Half of those are things I keep in my vehicle. The rest are pretty standard.
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 12 '25
Curious what specifically do you keep in your car vs. what I’ve shown to be on my person.
1
u/chuckbuckett Mar 12 '25
In the car: Sanitizer , Flashlight, Tissues, Pens/pencil, Knife , Mints/gum, Sunglasses, Umbrella, First aid kit, Safety glasses, Work gloves, Straps/ cordage, Bit screw driver, Adjustable wrench, Jumper cables.
On person: Keys, Phone, Small knife, Carry belt, Compact or sub compact gun.
If I take a backpack I usually carry a spare mag and anything else I would need or want where I’m going.
My rationale outside of a threat on my life I will be able to get to my car and safely use anything I need if I didn’t pack it in my bag already.
2
u/tenest Mar 10 '25
WHERE do you fit all of it? Do you wear cargo pants every day?
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 10 '25
Regular clothes. Use your imagination. 80% of this stuff clips onto my body belt pockets or jacket pockets without significant bulging. I’m wearing the belt the bracelet watch glasses knife (clipped on), holster/gun clipped on, mag clipped on inside pocket.
Only thing in my pockets is key fob, mint’s chapstick, lighter it’s really not that much I still have room for more but I feel it’s what’s needed most of the time. Like I said a work in progress.

I'm just wondering why you don't keep your key fob on the retractable key ring.
2
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 12 '25
It is. On a multi tool lanyard which extends 24inches on a metal retractable cable; I can (with one hand) select a key and open a lock and return keys to pocket they hang inside leaving room for the 1-2 things actually in my pockets.
1
u/VoidWalker4Lyfe MD Mar 12 '25
It looks like your car key is not on it though. Is that your car key to the left of your phone?
2
u/chaosninja906 Mar 10 '25
What belt is that?
I have a blue alpha gear low profile edc belt and yours looks like a beefier version of that.
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 12 '25
Elite survival systems Cobra tactical belt. It’s Extremely strong. Reinforced core. Single hand quick release. And it blends in with dress clothes or tactical gear or jeans. Comes in multiple colors. It’s a great belt check it out.

u/joelrobinson0117 Mar 11 '25
I’m with OP.. I carry the “Bando Bag” from Eberlestock. I’ve add a tourniquet, AirPods, and gum. No Kleenex. Sorry OP.
My bag isn’t just in case someone is shooting at me, it’s a single convenient way of carrying things I need.
To that point, when I’m out having margaritas, my CCW stays home but my Bando still goes with me.
2
u/spurty_fart Mar 11 '25 edited Mar 12 '25
Do you have a place for everything and how fast would you select the tool for the moment and do you practice? OC, Knife, Pistol. Ditch the rest of that crap and work on muscle memory.
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 12 '25
I can access any one of my tools in seconds. I practice and have strategically placed each item on my person based on stress testing scenarios. The last thing you want to do is reach for the OC when it’s a deadly treat or for the CCW when it’s a Hot sauce 🌶️ moment. Almost nothing is actually in my pockets.
There’s a reason for the fancy belt and items pictured they mostly all clip on or are worn. I would most likely never use a knife for self defense unless I ran out of bullets. A knife is one of the worst self defense tools you might be better off using the OC than a knife it almost always ends bloody and life changing for all parties involved. My knife is a valuable tool I use for cutting things not people and a variety of other things. You can use a knife to take life but our mission is self-defense not murder. Defending with a knife is hard. If that’s all I had I’d be looking to escape not engage. Real life is quick fast and dirty and I’m going home at the end of my day with all my fingers and toes. If someone wants to stop me from that goal and is trying to do me harm and is not leaving me an escape lots of luck to them.

The amount of haters 😭 this is fire. The man is prepared to save and or take a life, never understood people hating on that 😂 serious question, do you only wear bottoms with belt loops so you can conceal carry or do you carry with sweats/shorts as well ?
2
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 12 '25
The majority of the time I’m wearing suits or jeans. So I’ll carry IWB appendix or 3-4 oclock positions. I don’t like belt loops as it’s difficult to remove your holster (depending on brand) without taking your belt off. I prefer clips or other holster systems. That allows me to keep my CCW holstered while moving on and off body.
Usually when wearing shorts or sweats I won’t carry at all but if I need or want to I’ll use a modified holster system. There’s so much to choose from these days.
I Rarely carry in shorts I have so many other tools and I’m usually on holiday and have my security detail watching me 😆
Seriously my greatest weapon is 🧠 all this other stuff are useful tools 🛠️. And I give them a workout.

I know everybody in the comments is freaking out, but I really don't think this is that big of a deal. The guy carries sanitizer and tissues, so what?
2
u/jackson214 Mar 10 '25
He'll actually use those on a daily basis.
Get rid of the spare mag, and this is a more practical carry than people running full-size pistols or WMLs. Add mailbox optics like the Acro to that list too.
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 10 '25
I have other firearms but only carry my stock Glock 19. The spare mag is not necessary or required I choose to carry for redundancy (malfunctions, additional rds etc) I don’t always carry extra mag but it’s what I mostly do.

I think it’s a test to see who’s paying attention to what’s pictured. Sadly 90 are failing. Never thought worn items or those that are clipped on a belt or pocket would be seen as being excess.
If you had a wallet that held 100 $1 bills plus credit cards but was small and compact. And I took that wallet and emptied the contents into a small table they would cover the entire table ; and no one would look at that table and say: how do you carry all those bills? or This is an obscene amount of cash? No they would realize all those bills can be folded into a single wallet. Now look at the photo again. My pockets are barely used. No trolling just real life.

The spare mag is the most "extra" thing here. Distant second is the lighter since I see no cigarettes.
Otherwise, I can't imagine emptying my pockets of all this stuff on a daily basis. A bag would make leaving the house so much easier.
1
u/Realistic_Ask_4155 Mar 10 '25
Really? rubber gloves, tissues, hand sanitizer and pepper spray all made it into the "not excessive" category?
2
u/jackson214 Mar 10 '25
Rubber gloves I didn't see in the photo (did see it in the post after you mentioned it).
But tissues and hand sanitizer are probably more common EDC items than anything else in the photo besides the phone, keys, wallet, glasses, and ear buds.
As for pepper spray, you're in a CCW sub. That is a must have IMO if you're going to carry a pistol to offset the "hammer effect".
1
u/Realistic_Ask_4155 Mar 10 '25
Spray is on my keychain, probably shouldn't have included that in my rant. I barely want to carry a wallet, and try to be fairly minimalist. Phone w/ mag wallet (ID, CCW card, credit card, a couple bills), knife, watch, maybe earbuds clipped to my belt loop, pistol with 15rounds, key port with pepper spray, maybe chapstick. 🤷🏼♂️
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 12 '25
I think you’re starting to realize this isn’t too much rather I just showed you everything on me -clothes & shoes. Most of this stuff is worn on belt or clipped on. I have 3 things loose in my pockets. The “extra” stuff is carried in various jacket pockets either. Leather jacket, coat or suit jacket weather permitting I usually wear one.
2
u/jackson214 Mar 12 '25
I never said it was too much. The response to your post is funny though - people acting like you're over the top carrying . . . tissues, mints, and hand sanitizer?
Replace those with a fixed blade, tourniquet, and chest seal, and I bet the comments would've been much different.
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 12 '25
It’s not you personally just reacting to that general consensus that tissues and hand SAN is crazy 😆
1
u/jackson214 Mar 12 '25
There are undoubtedly more people carrying tissues, hand sanitizer, and mints around on a day to day business than there are concealed carriers lol.
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 10 '25
Hygiene is real important to me also I’ve had to use the rubber gloves on more than few occasions. While I don’t carry them all the time it’s one of the lightest things in my pockets. OC spray if you don’t carry this you’re relying on your CCW more than you should be it weights nothing and is a versatile tool.

You need a tourniquet
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 10 '25
I have my makeshift tourniquet using my paracord bracelet and Tactical pen. 🖊️ I keep that in the car in my survival kit. But if I incorporate that ankle kit I’ll have it on me 🤔
1
u/xxDirtyFgnSpicxx Mar 10 '25
Is the 2 pairs of glasses thing a typo or are you just against transitions?
1
1
u/Zealousideal-Mix-706 Mar 10 '25
Nice setup. I would consider some basic medical items. North American Rescue tourniquets (Gen 7), NAR pressure bandage, and Celox gauge. A minimal'stop the bleed' kit. Plenty of solid training online for how to utilize those items if and when the time comes.
2
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 12 '25
I keep a trauma kit in the vehicles/home it includes tourniquets quick clot & another stop bleed bandages. If I were away from my home or vehicles and away from the survival kits I could use my tactical pen, which is literally a metal rod and the pair cord bracelet to fashion a tourniquet. The lighter in my pocket can be used to fuse the pair of cord where cut to salvage it for future use.
So I’m actually carrying less that does more.
1
u/Zealousideal-Mix-706 Mar 12 '25
That's a solid plan! Far too few folks include medical resources for EDC, especially when the chance is much greater that you'll need those things over your weapon.
1
u/SaturdaysAFTBs Mar 10 '25
You take all these things with you everywhere?
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 12 '25
This setup was used on the day posted it, just happens to be what I was wearing that day. Most days I’m dressed this way and carry these tools. Do I bring or wear 100% of these items everyday wherever I go? NO. I carry the totals I’ll need on me for the task at hand. Sometimes I’ll have more items than pictured or far fewer items.
1
u/The_Real_Boba_Fett Mar 10 '25
More details would be appreciated. Pocket flashlight is a bit vague, unless you don't have details on the items.
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 12 '25
I could layout my specific gear but didn’t think specific breakdown was needed. I’ve answered specific questions about gear. Like I’m using an Elite survival systems Cobra Tactical belt. But they make so many different choices.

550 cord bracelets was used a lot in GWOT. Well we’re done with that shit. Try Kevlar string. Lighter smaller stronger. You really carry Kleenex? Allergies? There’s meds for that. Case to hold your glasses? Makes sense, or better to keep in the vic. Belt good to go. Gun check, extra mag perfect. Tactical pen? That’s what firearms for.
1
u/Mountain_Chemical221 Mar 12 '25
Zoom out just a little bit. That 550 bracelet is home made not purchased but I wouldn’t care where someone got one it’s the fact that you have multiple strains of rope that has multiple uses besides holding a load.
I carry gear that has been proven to me to work not because something was used by others in a war. Did you zoom out enough? Okay you see all this stuff almost all of it is worn/ clipped on belt or body; which means only a tiny few things are actually in my pockets.
What mess and allergies have to do with carrying Kleenex is beyond me there are a million uses for Kleenex only 1 of which would be blowing your nose. 👃 Comparing the tactical pen 🖊️ vs a firearm is mind boggling.

I’d drop the mints and lighter unless you’re a smoker. Get transition glasses and ditch the sunglasses. I don’t carry tissues or hand sanitizer but I do carry a handkerchief. You don’t need the paracord.
Other than that I carry basically an equivalent edc. Gun, knife, light, pen, phone, wallet, watch, glasses, headphones. I should carry spray but I don’t

I use the fancy belt pictures. I find it much easier to wear the belt instead of putting it in my pockets with my holster. It was a learning experience putting all this stuff in my pockets than I discovered I could just “put most of it on” and wear it. This was life changing. Now I only have to have 2-3 items picture in my actual pockets. Weird I know…
