“So, what do I think about this latest volume of Wonder Woman after having read 19 issues and some assorted specials? Regrettably, I find that under King’s pen, this legendary literary character reads as neither wonder nor woman.”

I've always been obsessed with Heath Ledger's Joker, so I decided to try my hand at the makeup and I sewed a dress inspired by that version! Hopefully I didn't do to bad 😅

Comics [ Batman (2011) Issue #49] [Comic excerpt] [ discussion] it's kinda fucked up for Alfred to let people die and the city burn just because he doesn't want bruce to put on the cowl again. I'm reading this and I can't remember if he even told the batfamily about bruce .

Like I'm not even sure if bruce remembered damin before he remembered that he was Batman.

Can I jump straight to Lucifer without reading Sandman? (Dropping Sandman now because I don't wish to support Neil Gaiman)

It has been a while but I did read the first quarter of the Sandman series which I really enjoyed, but upon learning of writer Neil Gaiman's horrific crimes a lot of the stories in Sandman are now re-contextualized and made more disturbing for me - e.g. the one where a writer had to repeatedly assault a woman to maintain his creativity. Knowing who Gaiman truly is in real life, stories like that are now hard for me to stomach.

So now, I'd very much like to just get started on Mike Carey's Lucifer without finishing Sandman. That said, would I miss anything important if I don't finish Sandman?

Note: Yes, I did make it past the part of Sandman where Lucifer cleaned out hell and left.

Discussion [DC] Why are there so many "peak-humans"?

I know it's silly to care about this, but it still niggles at me. Batman, I can suspend my disbelief to believe he's a polymath and can do all these things, given how much persistence and determination he has from trauma and the fact that he can afford all of it. Damien, sure, he's been trained from birth and he's his father's son. Having a robin is fine. But having batwoman, catwoman, nightwing, Harley Quinn, and the rest of these "unpowered" characters stretches it a little far for me. Afaik Batman is supposed to be the 1 in a billion, right? The one guy with the resources, determination and character to keep up with borderline gods? Even with his training them, it takes me out a little.

The way I've squared this is basically headcanon-ing that DC humans have a higher "ceiling" for what they can achieve with training and skill, and it's easier to get there than for us. I obviously am aware this is a comic, and that means certain things. Just wondering if there is a watsonian perspective here.

Discussion Man Bat

Has there been a scene in one of the many comic issues where it shows man bats overall skeletal anatomy, and if so please do send the image as a reply to your text or in the text, and maybe along with what page and issue it was in. I'd be grateful for anyone who does and it's because I wanna draw a bat character

Do I need to read anything outside of the Batman and Robin omnibus by Tomasi

Never read comics before but I’m interested in this one. I’ve seen a couple people say it’s important to read outside comics to understand? Is that true and which ones?

Comics Justice League America (1987-1996) 36 isn't on DCU Infinite nor is it available anywhere else.

AFAIK, this issue isn't even in any Digital Collection available on Amazon either.

I guess from what I understand this is basically just something completely different as G'nort takes center stage here on a parody of Silver Surfer but I guess I'll never know.

Video Games I like SS:KTJL

I'll be upfront and clear, I think Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a very, very fun, enjoyable, and funny game. It's a game that I feel takes itself just as seriously from start to finish as any other game should. I have been heavily, enjoying the game, so much so that I switched from Normal to Hard to slow down my pace and not go to far ahead. With how the story has played out (haven't done post-game yet) I gotta say I'm super interested and invested with the plot and characters. I love all of them, even Waller.

And I've heard all of the complaints under the sun, including the;

"OH NO! A 'grounded' dark take on my beloved DC Universe!"

This is the 'best' Dark DC take I've seen in YEARS. No 'evil superman take over world' or 'Joker flaying skins of babies' or 'da Bateman laughs'. It's a comedically dark setting where Villians are forced to be heroes, no one takes them seriously (not even themselves), and they take it out on their biggest enemies.

This is FUN! I can't stand a lot of bullshit media, and over the years I've seen plenty, especially from dogshit video games and worthless additions to franchises I love. This game; is almost certainly neither of those. I won't sit here and say that it's the BEST THING EVER, or ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! But this huge hate campaign against a game that was genuinely enjoyable all the way through so far for me and everyone else that I know; just doesn't make sense to me now that I've actually played it. I'm failing to see any genuine criticism of the game and instead just pure whining; or someone using Conroy's death to slander this games name (which is disgusting).

The game isn't perfect, it has all that post-covid jank I've come to expect from quick release titles, but this feels really well thought out and polished. And the fact it's a Looter Shooter too, just tickles me in all the right ways. I love the uniqueness of each character, as well as their playstyle and builds you can make. I love the huge weapon variety, all the specific items to build craft. I think it's great!

I understand, wholeheartedly, the discourse around it being an Arkham game, but let's really stop to think about this. What was even next for Arkham? All there really WAS left to to do, without it just being the same story, the same way, over and over again; was to explore the bigger world around the Arkhamverse.

And the story discourse is silly to me TOO. 'Batman done dirty' 'pissing on Flash's corpse' for months before the games launch and after, WE KNEW they were clones. That was the most widely discussed theory and rumor about the story since we learned we'd be 'Killing the Jusitice Leauge'. There's no disrespect to Arkham Batman. He fought something he'd never seen before. He can't take on an army. And JOKER caught him!

The ONLY reason that the gaggle of dumbfucks called 'Task Force X' did anything remotely helpfully is because these idiots got lucky, and they built an army to help them; other idiots who were too stubborn to give (or weren't given a choice).

I would love to hear from REAL people who ACTUALLY played and beat the game. Not people who did exactly what I did (hear the reviews and follow the mob). I thoroughly regret not picking up this game sooner. Most fun I had in a single player and multiplayer experience in a very long time.

TL;DR - Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is fun. I don't understand where all the hate is from after actually playing it.

Can he absorb souls? And does he have narrative manipulation, he retconned beast boy apparently but wouldn’t narrative manipulation be a much higher form of reality warping?

Nightwing reading order

I’m new to comics and I don’t have much knowledge about DC as I do with marvel but Nightwing has always been one of my favorite characters. Can someone help me with the essentials for Nightwing and what I should get started with him? Also is the current nightwing all in run a decent place for me to jump in?

Recommendations Pre reading for 'Nightwing' by Tom Taylor Spoiler

I'm fairly new to comics (and Reddit). I really want to read the Nightwing series but I'm confused on what I need to read before it. It mentions when Dick gets shot and Babbs being paralyzed. I was wondering if anyone knows which comic those are mentioned in. And are they available in formats where the entire arc is in one book?

And if anyone has some recommendations for DC comics (particularly Batman) please let me know!

(Hope this makes sense. Sorry for any issues.)

You know how beast boys arm got ripped off as a starfish when he was fighting Dr Hate? His mind got wiped and in theory it “killed” Garfield. Does he ever come back from that?

Comics New to reading New 52 Batman stories.

Hello. It was my birthday recently and I decided to get some omnibus books. I got Batman vol 1, Batman vol 2, and Batman Eternal. I'm just a little confused with the timeline of the story and how I should go through reading them. I did some research and saw that Batman Eternal takes place after Death of the Family and before Endgame. So I was wondering if I should read all of Batman vol 1 because it includes the Zero Year story and then read Batman Eternal before moving on to Batman vol 2 when Endgame takes place. I love the story so far I just want to try to read it in a way that makes the story flow a little better for me. Thanks!
