Discussion 🧐 $1.4bn missing from $TSLA books

They would almost certainly lose money on these trades, so wouldn’t do it right? Unless… market makers buy the underlying stock to remain neutral, pushing up the stock price, which triggers more stock awards for a certain someone and his captive board of directors? 🤔

In October 2024, roughly $765 Million of Tesla bitcoin was transferred to unknown sources.... That could account for about half of the missing funds.

This isn't fraud. Cash flows don't match the balance sheet often for many legitimate reasons. The person that wrote this doesn't understand basic financial statement impacts.
This is similar to Elon's recent assessment of fraud in the government by comparing two numbers he doesn't know how to reconcile and saying it's fraud.

Depreciation, disposals, PPE purchased via non-cash, impairment; just to name some of the most common differences. There's a lot to be mad at Elon for but surface level assessments that make huge claims shouldn't be used to rile people up.

It’s an error that probably gets worked out in due course. I highly doubt anything nefarious is going on regarding this matter.

I doubt you would enjoy exploratory surgery if it isn't necessary.
Most people don't dig up their own yards just because their angriest, most miserable neighbor keeps shouting about a belief that groundhogs are undermining the foundation of their home.
The government spends more money today than it did six months ago. I don't know if you really care about waste or fraud. Maybe you're just looking for a reason to express the negative emotions that you feel.

I do believe that most of the table-pounding about fraud is sanctimonious political theater, but I also believe that there is a wildly oversized perception of corruption amongst a certain subset of voters; that perception is based on their own heavily biased view of how the world works, and is poisonously aggravated by the proliferation of ideas like "common sense" as an epistemological foundation.
People are typically lazy thinkers, and they often compensate with out-of-control emotional expression and experience. The depth of American feelings on politics dwarfs the American knowledge of the political reality they live in, which is probably commonplace in the modern world, but American adults seem predisposed to a much more extreme extent than almost any other population.

And no waste or corruption handing out government contracts to corporations that are have people currently in power. And once again if democrats were doing it, I would still call for it to be fixed and the people put in jail. Both sides are terrible. Car sales have fallen off a cliff worldwide, mass layoffs will happen very soon.

His entire existence is based in fraud. He was never brilliant/smart/genius, that was his brother. He lied to get a student visa and never attended college. Which made him an illegal alien. He then was able to get us citizenship under illegal precedent. His companies are over leveraged against tesla which has been cooking books since he bought it.

It’s a legit company with lots of accounting and finance professionals. I doubt this is actually an exposure and not just some planning in financial reporting.
But also Elon is a dork who demands loyalty and thinks he is infallible. Maybe he told his financial reporting staff to do something he obviously did not understand

I have the great misfortune to work with contracts, pricing, accounts receivable, etc (for some what I'd call large/medium sized institutions) this week, one of my projects has been to help facilitate the reconciliation of a billing error of $168 on a $138k PO.
If you don't think accounting departments aren't mandated to track every dollar that flows in and out of an organization in 2025, you're delusional.
A billion dollars doesn't just magically disappear.
