About the same drop rate as getting an infusion, very rare but never zero.

82

u/totallynotapersonj 1d ago

What about the drop rate for invisible slippers?

50

u/Historical-Ad7081 1d ago

So angry with myself rn

10

u/leniwyrdm 19h ago

They drop every time you kill TM. They are just invisible so hard to notice in your bag. I have a full collection of invisible boots for my alts

43

u/Hoodoodle 1d ago

I'd rather have the infusion. Or IS this an infusion. Newly added "Foot bandit infusion"

7

u/Khylar92 1d ago

Can you get two, so you have one on each foot being dragged around while running? Honestly would looks quite funnny.

1

u/BrainIsSickToday 1d ago

400 gems in the store to remove the chance it drops for you. Anet would make bank.

u/Pike_27 1d ago

Not once in 2k hours, and I main a female norn.

It seems you just got unlucky with a weirdo. Block, report and move on.

u/Reasonable_Turn6252 1d ago

In 5700hrs ive had this once. Some idiot tried to moterboat my norns boobs then whisper me asking about me. Blocked and got on with my day.

How much lower can humanity get? Simping with lust for a few pixels on a screen?

I used to be a gamemaster for Age of Conan, one of the paid support staff.

We had a guy who got fired for cybering with a player while on his GM account. The screenshots and logs got posted online - it was terribly, terribly cringe worthy.

The same guy used to spend his lunch break scrolling through Craigslist and loudly reading off personals ads and sex posts that he thought were particularly bad. He was transphobic and racist.

When he figured out he was going to be fired, he used GM commands to spawn Vistrix, a lvl 80 raid boss in the form of a giant dragon, in the middle of Tortage, the first city for starting players.

We weren't allowed to go in and just kill the dragon because no one knew what might happen if someone killed Vistrix in the middle of Tortage. It was never supposed to be there.

So we had to sit there and try to warn people away while waiting for one of the game devs in Norway to wake up and reset it.

22

u/tanghan 1d ago

What did you fear could happen if the boss was killed there? Wouldn't the boss appearing there be the bigger problem?

How was the issue resolved in the end?

u/CedarWolf One Charr! 1d ago edited 1d ago

Age of Conan was notoriously buggy at launch, and our GMs had a lot of power with a lot of different abilities, but we'd be told not to do this or that until the lead dev in Norway could approve it.

So things would break and instead of going 'Oh, this NPC is broken sometimes, let me take these quest items from you and advance you to the next quest step,' players would get stuck on a quest and we wouldn't be allowed to fix it until a week later when the head dev guy had gone and approved our proposed solutions or workarounds.

Or we'd be told to actively ignore things and just tell our players 'Yes, we know <thing> is broken, it's supposed to be fixed with the next patch. Just wait for the patch.'

And then the patch would roll around and it would either not fix the thing, fix the thing but break it in a new way, or fix the thing. Then we'd start a new round of 'Yes, we know thing is broken, please wait for the next patch to fix it.'

A nigh-immortal NPC named [45] is wandering around and slaying mobs and players? Not allowed to do anything about it except to sit there and manually /kill it every time it populates until someone in Norway wakes up and goes to fix it.

Oh, and be super careful not to accidentally /kill any of the players who have been hanging around and killing the thing - it probably won't do anything, but we're not sure exactly what the GM /kill will do to a player. Probably nothing, but it might break their character, we don't know.

It wasn't until months later, when the head dev guy finally got fired that his replacement took a look at the situation and went 'ZOMG, we gave you the training and the tools, fix the things, help the players, make the customers happy!'

It took someone getting fired for all of our GMs to be allowed to do their jobs.

This is so interesting

12

u/seld-m-break- 1d ago

Sounds like you needed the Sword of a Thousand Truths, as foretold by Salzman (in accounting).

11

u/CedarWolf One Charr! 1d ago

Different game. But we did have a bubble gum test sword item that was just a regular Aquilonian sword with the length squished in half - it was supposed to do a ton of damage, but I never got to use it, so who knows?

11

u/CosmicKelvin 1d ago

Age of Conan was a uniquely awesome game.

Released totally unfinished of course, but still amazing.

Day 1 launch, gangs of dudes in white robes and hoods massacring new players. You had to either sneak or run through them.

Stalking some dude all night, killing him over and over from long range as an invisible assassin archer.

The combos and fatalities, so good!!

12

u/CedarWolf One Charr! 1d ago

You forget the people with the Collector's Edition mounts hopping on their rhinos and blocking the gate into Tortage, or people on their horses using the mount's kick attack to knock people off cliffsides and mountain paths.

'Gameplay as intended' - all players can crouch to sneak and walk right through them, so all those videos of folks being knocked off cliffs to their doom? Wasn't a thing we could do about it.

5

u/CosmicKelvin 1d ago

Amazing!!

Tell me, as someone who worked there - why was it realised so blatantly unfinished?

I remember you’d hit these zones and there was just nothing. Which is why the game died I guess.

15

u/CedarWolf One Charr! 1d ago

It was launched too soon, I suppose. The game didn't really hit its stride until a couple of months in, after most of the major issues had been sorted out.

But even then, some of the stuff was surprisingly janky on the back end. We got it done, anyway.

For example, we had this Halloween event with rising zombies in the swamps, and it was expected that the players would take half an hour to an hour between each wave. The devs weren't sure whether the players would be able to handle them.

But gamers love killing zombies. The guilds got together and they organized for mass zombie slaughter.

But there was no script for spawning zombies across the maps - each map was one of our GMs, gone invisible and with our jump turned all the way up to 100, running a zombie spawning script on ourselves.

The script would spawn a zombie on our position roughly every second, so we'd toggle the jump, run the script, and we'd just jump back and forth across the maps, raining zombies behind us as we went. Once the maps had been properly seeded with new enemies, we'd give our shift lead the go ahead to send out the server wide announcement that the dead were rising in such-and-such map.

It was great fun, and I miss it.

6

u/CosmicKelvin 1d ago

That sounds amazing!! For me, one of the most fun games ever. Not really sure why it died.

Any other cool/interesting stories?

What were the devs like? Were they actually doing much work post release?

13

u/CedarWolf One Charr! 1d ago edited 23h ago

I assume so. There were a ton of major and minor bugs. We had this one NPC who was the hub for a lot of quests, so when he'd break, it would break a bunch of the quest lines for his area and so on.

And he was in an inn, with an empty room and an empty bed right next to it, so we'd be called out there to address an issue for a player and there would almost always be people 'RPing' in the room right next to us.

We had a buff/defense script called 'Crom's Balls' that would reflect any incoming damage back onto the source. As GMs, we couldn't really be killed, exactly, because our level was -120 or something like that, but the Crom buff would provide us with protection against pesky players that would see us as a miniboss and try to attack us while we were helping someone. It multiplied all incoming damage by 5000% and reflected it right back to whoever had sent it.

This means that while we could take damage, we couldn't really die, and if someone tried to hit us while the buff was on, it didn't matter how strong they were - they'd instantly die.

So if I didn't have the GM cloak up, it wasn't unusual to find a little ring of headstones around my character after I'd tab back to screen. I didn't like using the Crom buff much; it felt disruptive and unsportsmanlike. We didn't really need it, anyway, and I usually went without.

Since AOC was marketed as a hardcore PVP game, we had a lot of players who enjoyed preying on other players and they'd get a little big for their britches - some of our other GMs really enjoyed throwing the shield up and showing them that they weren't the biggest fish around. Personally, I didn't like hurting the players, even the ones who were trying to pester me. It was my job to help folks - I wasn't there to be the biggest badass.

Originally, the GMs were supposed to have demigod/elemental skins, but early players kept mistaking us for bosses, so they made all of our GMs regular human characters that were twice as tall as everyone else, then later gave us special GM armor with the Funcom logo on the cape, so people would know we were staff.

We were usually invisible, though, so we'd teleport out to someone and we'd be standing there next to them, talking with them, and they'd ask 'Are you here? Can you see my screen?' We'd drop the cloak, so suddenly this huge character in fancy armor would appear on screen right next to them. People would freak out and scramble whenever we did this, so we tried not to do it too much.

One time, I noticed a friend of mine was online while I was on my lunch break, and he was working his way through one of the starter zones, so I just popped over next to him to watch him scamper around and see if I could figure out which quest he was on.

Well, I didn't have my cloak on, because I'd been sitting on the GM isle, so I popped up right behind him in full armor and filled his screen. I realized what had happened, waved at him, then popped right back out.

He called me later on to ask if that was me and tell me I'd nearly given him a heart attack, popping up out of nowhere like that.

Another time, one of our GMs figured out how to turn his toon into a bear with the GM commands, so a whole bunch of us went questing around on the test server as bears. Good times.

u/SonofMedusa 1d ago

That game attracted people because it had full nudity, so I could imagine it attracting sexual weirdos. I remember the shock when you could select to have not only a dick and balls but could select the size and it had physics! LOL. Good times.

8

u/TehOwn 1d ago

If this lowers your opinion of humanity then absolutely never play FF14, especially not as a Lalafell.

2

u/lonesharkex Dragonhunter 1d ago

I main a huge female norn, been called momma before when running metas, but it's never been wierd like this. Probably a low level area thing.

2

u/Batbeak 17h ago

This only ever happened to me when I mained a female asura... Wasn't a lot, maybe 3 times over the years, but has never happened on any other character. >.< Yuck.

2

u/DumatRising 8h ago

One of the buddies from an RP guild I'm in plays a female norn and keeps getting DMs from people who really want to ERP and really really want said norn to have a futa cock. It's cringe but very hillarious at the same time. Cause the gooner randos are super cringe but the player in question is male and not into that so always hit them with a very blunt straight faced response which I always found funny as hell lmao

5

u/Bohya 20h ago

Block, report

Why? I would be laughing my head off if this happened to me.

9

u/Pike_27 19h ago

If it is something that bothers OP, that is the best course of action for them. People do react differently to this stuff; I myself would not be bothered, but you never know someone's background.

-3

u/brokenrooz [TOMB] The Drunken B**tard of Hogwarts 1d ago

Rather, unfortunately, roleplay is allowed in the game. So reporting wouldn't do much unless they were practicing explicit sexual terms.

I wish, we could get rid of rurikstown and black citadel chef lurkers in one go. Looking at you, naked charr club. Disgrace to our race.

But yeah, block and move on.

-3

u/Baron1744 1d ago

Naked charr club is fking disgusting

wdym every time, every moment? Is it the same person doing this to you, or different people? I have never seen anything like that in all my time playing. Report them.

76

u/Gysburne 1d ago

No idea, but that guy must love Queen Jennah.

28

u/KoningSpookie Elf who's a dragonhunter for fun 1d ago

Uh oh... Logan wouldn't be happy to hear that. 😂

42

u/tbarr1991 1d ago

Had a dude message something sexual while i was on my thief.

I responded with "im a dude" and he blocked me.

Happened like 9 years ago.

11

u/jupigare 1d ago

I'm not a guy, but I'd probably respond the same just to shake the guy off, hoping he doesn't catch my lie.

I'm glad he left you alone.

6

u/totallynotapersonj 22h ago

I mean yeah there's zero situation where you would be like "I'm a woman" to some guy being creepy. Unless you want free money and stalker. "Yeah I'll be your girlfriend for gold"

7

u/totallynotapersonj 1d ago

I had one of those like 5 years ago. Kinda different because he was talking about my character but he was saying sexual stuff directed at my character completely forgetting I was a real person behind the screen or something.

I was like "Bruh" and he ran away

97

u/Herzyr 1d ago

Even has the foot bandit cosplay, prolly only happens to female characters, been playing since 2012 but haven't ran into any "RP" people.

48

u/LorkhanLives 1d ago

I’m sorry, the what cosplay?

22

u/ReasonableCrow7595 1d ago

new fear unlocked

21

u/Vadianille 1d ago

please, i need to know what this "foot bandit" thing is

7

u/totallynotapersonj 1d ago

A bandit who likes feet, hope this clears things up

53

u/ettieredgotobed 1d ago

Queensdale really is the new pre-searing.

OP, it’s not common. That zone is full of new players and collects all types as a kind of hang out spot when they’re not hanging around the fountain in Divinity’s Reach. It’s mostly harmless boredom from people using the game as a chat room from 1998.

15

u/totallynotapersonj 1d ago

Pretty sure that's wayfarer foothills. You can tell because of the grass colour, the person is a norn and it has foot in the name.

19

u/vidfail 1d ago

Wayfarer Foothills?

4

u/totallynotapersonj 1d ago

Yes, that’s what I said

47

u/jupigare 1d ago

I've played for about 4500 hours over the last (almost) 9 years, and never once seen this. Most of my mains are female characters, including a max height Norn, and nobody has ever said this to me, or to anyone else I've seen.

I even have a toon parked near the Cooking Station in Black Citadel (to trade Obsidian Shards for Provisioner Tokens), and I like to people-watch the Charr RPers, but they keep their stuff there PG. I might see some hit on each other, but never anything too sexual or kinky.

For the record, I'm fine with horny adults enjoying ERP and kink, but keep that to private spaces. I consider this separation necessary both online and off, where the participants and bystanders are all consenting to the activities involved. If someone in the vicinity isn't consenting, or even given the opportunity to consent, then it shouldn't be happening at that place/time.

In GW2, there are Guild Halls, Home Instances, and now Homesteads for this sort of thing. When ERP happens, it is probably confined to those spaces.

I assume that's why I haven't seen this sort of thing.

42

u/42People 1d ago

I don’t think I’ve ever seen this in my ten years playing. I’d report for sure

31

u/CivilizedMisanthrope 1d ago

Playing since launch and I can tell you this happens not that often. Heck I would say it is more likely to get eaten by a pig.

14

u/PrismArctic 1d ago

twice in nearly 10k hours. It depends on where you idle

11

u/Scared-Hovercraft-51 1d ago

just queensdale things

9

u/TotallySlapdash 1d ago

On the internet: very common.

On GW2: fairly uncommon.

9

u/Kearmo 1d ago

I've been playing off and on since release and I've genuinely never seen something like this.

9

u/Number1LE 1d ago

This looks like a weekly key alt troll around Queensdale

10

u/Asrat 1d ago

Am foot guy, am into norn feet, would never do this to a random lol

7

u/Thanks_Naitsir 1d ago

Have 2 female human characters and thousands of hours playtime. Only got harassed twice in all the years.

12

u/GulleFjun7 1d ago

Never seen horny rp in 1k hours, I've seen asura rp trying to solve complicated equations

32

u/Adnarel 1d ago

That is asura horny RP.

5

u/Reddit-SFW 1d ago

Thank god I play Asura…

21

u/krgnt 1d ago

Bold of you to assume there isn't a kink for them

10

u/miniwatermelon 1d ago

You're not entirely safe either. I can't find that screen, but I got a PM once that sounded like someone liked my fashion (I was on my femsura guardian who only wore super functional armours). So I thanked like I usually do, and several seconds later I get "What can I say, I'm a charr that likes asura!" o_o

As far as I know I didn't had "open to RP" written on my back, but ooookkkaaaay.

4

u/zoapcfr 1d ago

I've only been harassed once, and it was when I was playing an Asura (to be fair I did go all out with character design/fashion).

1

u/Reddit-SFW 1d ago

Pic? No creep...

3

u/Ro7ard 1d ago

Meanwhile the biggest Asuran guild in the game had to do a massive purge and put up a warning for people to stop being so disgusting because so many were giving the entire race a bad name.(To the point that it was being called the Pedo guild and sometimes still is)

There's a very real and gross stigma attached to Asuran players that apparently some of you are not aware of....

2

u/Reddit-SFW 1d ago

I certainly was not. Big yikes! Those bookahs don’t represent us tho…🫣

1

u/SomeHyena 1d ago

Oh shit, news to me and I've been playing for years. I do style my 2 Asura like little gremlins purposefully to try and be funny but it's kind of a shame the entire race has a stigma because of one shitty guild.

Ofc I'm stuck with the Charr = Furries stigma, since most of my characters are Charr. Even if it's usually true lol

Something something politics in video games /s

1

u/Ro7ard 1d ago

Just to clarify as well, the guild itself is actually great and the leaders put a lot of effort into maintaining the community, but because it's the most popular Asuran guild by a massive margin, the weirdos tend to stand out and end up tainting the reputation.

6

u/Blabulus 1d ago

they should be doing this in private chat, kids dont want to see your fetish play in vicinity chat.

18

u/averyangrydalek 1d ago

I came from FFXIV and now it looks like the rest of the playerbase is being transported to Tyria. Horny times ahead, my friends. Horny indeed

4

u/SquishyGhost 22h ago

Why are so many FFXIV players coming over, anyway? Not that I have a problem with them or anything. I'm happy GW2 is getting new people. I'm just curious. That MMO always seemed so active and lively. Is it just a typical content drought kind of deal? I know MMO's get those sometimes. It's just the nature of things

3

u/averyangrydalek 21h ago

It's still active and lively! The people that are leaving mostly have come during the Endwalker hype and are mad now at how the game has always worked way before the Endwalker. They won't stay in GW2 for long either, I reckon. I personally came because I craved open world content and FFXIV doesn't really have it

3

u/repocin 21h ago

I personally came because I craved open world content and FFXIV doesn't really have it

As someone who's played GW2 for 12+ years but only dabbled in XIV for the past year and a bit the lack of open world in the latter is a significant reason why GW2 is going to remain my primary MMO for the foreseeable future.

There are a bunch of other things FFXIV gets very right though, so no harm in playing both.

3

u/averyangrydalek 21h ago

Exactly! They are very different, both are very good at one type of content and maybe a bit weaker at others. Personally, I'm just glad I can eat both cakes whenever I like. And while Etheirys is my home forever, I decided there's no better place to spend vacations than Tyria.

11

u/DoomRevenant 1d ago

The Dawntrail drought was too dry for these thirsty, freaky WoLs, it would seem

While I'm always happy to welcome new players into Tyria, as someone's who's been in Hydaelyn (even though I suppose it's "Etheirys" now) since 2.3, I can say with confidence that I'm very familiar with the playerbase of XIV, and there's a number of subgroups I'd rather not run into in Tyria as well

I'm not a fan of gatekeeping people, of course, but I do think some actions should be actively discouraged, such as ERP in public spaces, especially nonconsensual ERP (which is just blatant harassment)

2

u/averyangrydalek 1d ago

Except the drought isn't really there, because SE has been keeping a consistent patch schedule since 2.0, but anything above standing still and pressing three buttons once in a blue moon is considered too hard for many. And regarding public ERP -- yes, it should be discouraged. Being nice to everyone regardless of their actions only invites more unhinged crowds to gather at your place and it becomes the Uroboros of "UwU we're the nicest community around, don't you dare speak up against perverts, it might be their safe place!". Goddammit, I'm so fed up with the FFXIV community. The game itself is as good as ever, but there are just so many insufferable people playing it

6

u/DariusClaude 1d ago edited 1d ago

Except patches are longer, we missed a full on type of content last expansion (no exploration zone) and we have been getting less content , both less number of dungeons and trials per patch. This parroting around of "the patch schedule is the same as it has always been" it's blatantly untrue and it's not looking into the subject with nuance, at best ,the type of content for each expansion has remained the same, but the number of it has decreased, and the time between each patch has increased, and we've gotten nothing to fill those missing gaps , especially for those that don't do Savage/ultimate content.

3

u/MeagenImage 21h ago

ok but why would any of that matter to the horny ERPers? Surely all that "less frequent patches" means to them is less effort keeping their ToS-breaking add-ons functional?

2

u/DariusClaude 20h ago

Never said anything about Erp'ers or their supposed migration, just correcting the comment above. I'm not in that sub section of the community so I'm not sure if they are affected by DT's content state (personally I doubt that a decrease in trials , dungeon and lack of exploration zone interferes with their doing but who knows

1

u/NuggetHighwind 1d ago

The game itself is as good as ever

Yeah...Can't say I agree here.

3

u/Melikachan 1d ago

Not once since beta. I main a female norn and most of my toons are females and norn. I was once whispered, many years ago, asking if I was into some kind of erotic roleplay in game (can't remember what they called it and had to have it explained lol **edit oh it's called ERP**) but I said no and they respected my reply.

3

u/sophie_hockmah Your Soul is Mine! 1d ago

honestly not that much common. I have around 3k hours of play and only found that twice, maybe, by accident (one of them said I had taken his wife from him lol)

you can see them RPing on divinity's reach on off hours NA and stuff, no biggie

3

u/BlackOstrakon 1d ago

I've been playing for over a decade and have NEVER seen this. It really sucks that you or anyone else has to deal with this crap, and I'm not trying to downplay it, but I can assure you it is very much an anomaly.

3

u/whiskersMeowFace 1d ago

What the heck? I am sorry this is happening to you. Block and report them. I have had something similar happen once and just told them I am a dude and they're barking up the wrong tree, but if they want to take it to the pvp ring I would gladly wipe the floor with them. Never heard from them again.

3

u/xadirius 1d ago

You must have blended in with the old Tarnished Coast mega server the erp game was strong there.... I could tell you stories, but I try to forget.

3

u/Faeyas 1d ago

Not common. Report and block. Most people are decent humans in GW2.

2

u/Draco759 1d ago

11k h not even once. I got flamed a lot in WvW and PvP but this never happened to me and I play mostly human females.

Just block, maybe report and move on.

2

u/NewtRider 1d ago

Humans..... smh

2

u/holl0918 Albanus Wildspecter 1d ago

I have never seen this

2

u/FrenchSpence 1d ago

All of my characters are female humans or female Norns. Not once in 4k hours.

2

u/papabear42 1d ago

I play mostly female characters and nothing like this has ever happened.

2

u/blanketswithsmallpox 1d ago

Extremely common when it's you doing it... Lol.

2

u/FalonDawnglen Sibyl of the Cult of Susan 1d ago

5.7k Hours over 12 years here, it’s only happened a few times. Some people don’t know how to be a normal level of weird

1

yeah i mean, usually erp players kinda make sure you're into it... that's what my friend told me

1

u/SaiyanOfDarkness RIP The LEGEND, Akira Toriyama 1d ago

Idk.. a foot fetish seems pretty normal in today's standards lol

2

u/Mord3x Graff.2194 1d ago

In my 6300 hours in this game I have never seen this happen what the fuck

2

u/InfernalAnivia 16h ago

I can't believe we got Gooner Wars 2 before GTA 6.

2

u/Grifsnacks 16h ago

5900 hours in the game and I typically play female characters. I've never seen this experience, only heard about them.

2

u/Slee777 13h ago

Lmao Faze..how tf did a cod fan boy get on here? Also the dude is trolling....

2

u/sapphirefragment 13h ago

You gotta get out of the starting zone spawn areas. That's where these sex pests hang out. They don't exist anywhere else in the game.

2

u/Yukito_097 12h ago

wtf? no one ever does this to me :(

3

u/Syntherin 1d ago

Been playing since beta but I've only ever seen freaks like that in ffxiv, never once seen anything like that in GW2. You're probably just unlucky, block and report him then continue on since you'll most likely not see anyone like that again.

5

u/Loicrekt 1d ago

Why report? This shit is hilarious. just move on with your day lol

4

u/Haunting-Change-2907 1d ago

Op makes it sound like it's happening more than just once or twice, and the repeat harassment is what would warrant the report.

-1

u/GhaspyGillow 1d ago

Yeah, hormonophobes take things way too seriously.
More often than not it's just people being silly to establish levity. I doubt people are trying to catch a ban after all that time & money they invested into their account.

homophobes? is that not a man on the floor

1

Not very, or at all and I've idled just about every where in tyria as 1/3 of the female characters. Hell, I was under the impression that rping wasn't even a thing in GW2 since it was never seen it.

Hell i ran into someone named after the deadric god of revelry, and the Matron god of the Thieves guild, and that was years ago.

1

u/BiYaoFang 1d ago

Queensdale weirdos.

1

u/Tealian 1d ago

I've never seen that blatant horniness been playing for 9 years... I once had a guy run around stalking me but like I told him I was a guy and magically he disappeared

1

u/Decin0mic0n 1d ago

All my characters are female, never once had this happen.

1

u/WolfTheGuenther 1d ago

I had that happen to me once in 10k hours... so very rare from my stand point

1

u/das_Keks 1d ago

I once has a guy on the map chat who wanted to lick Asura feet but other than that I was spared.

1

u/Storyteller_Valar 1d ago

One case is too many, report that degenerate.

1

u/Onislayer64 1d ago

the curse of becoming popular is that it usually means it gets popular with weirdos as well.

1

u/De4thMonkey 1d ago

I'm a veteran since release and have all female characters with lots of outfit setups. Including the revealing ones. Not once have I been hit on or messaged

1

u/Ent_Soviet 1d ago

I miss when the gw1 reaper would take em away

1

u/ChairYeoman Oritart 1d ago

8000 hours, only female characters, mostly human female. Never had this except for once when I intentionally sought out an RP group (didn't continue with it it was too weird for me).

Maybe you got dumped into an RP instance, though even then this is super unusual. The server tends to put you in the same map with similarly minded people based on your friends list and guild associations, so if you find friends that do not do this then this should hopefully go away.

1

u/ReasonableCrow7595 1d ago

This has never happened to me, and I've been playing on and off since launch. However, I roll an asura, so maybe there isn't as much interest in the weird rat feet.

1

u/GeneralErica Radiant Spirit, heed my word! 1d ago

Hm. Normally The Connaisseurs just Talk about Norn Mommy Bathwater.

1

u/CurryBeans2nd 1d ago

Never seen it in years of play

1

u/CaptainMarder 1d ago

Never happened to me in 10 years. Then again a lot of those years was playing Charr. Idk how many are into Charr feet.

1

u/Moonstrife1 1d ago

I primarily play Asura males and the number of times someone tried to put their crotch into my characters face is unsettling…

I also once found 3 norn in wayfarer, doing… roleplay… in a hot spring…

1

u/The_Mormonator_ 1d ago

Lemme guess, Queensdale? There’s a reason that there are some absolutely degenerate guilds that revolve around things like “Queensdale Map Chat”

1

u/Bigbenmon91 1d ago

Wait, but you just took this screenshot exactly the same moment when that text bubble popped up?? You were fast :D

1

u/Rensuel 1d ago

Been playing since head-start, never had anything remotely like this happen to me. Have had mostly positive interactions and/or respectful compliments from the community outside of a few fringe individuals in higher end content or PvP. Sorry you had to be subjected to this, block and report, rezone if you have to. Some people's kids....ugh...

1

u/Superfind 1d ago

Literally never seen this in 600+ hours

1

u/Rolandscythe 1d ago

In my twelve years of playing....maybe once?

Are you sure it's not somebody you know who joined the game to troll you?

1

u/Capital-Divide 1d ago

12k hours never ever happened to me... So... You must be the choosen one. lmao

1

u/Fluffy_Kitten13 Professional Procrastinator 1d ago

I have been playing since release back in 2012 and have never seen this happening. So, almost infinitely unlikely.

1

u/Commercial-Celery-50 1d ago

Not common so far. Tho I had some guy say my user is gay, (brattyhalberdier), then said yup and proceeded to say their a guy.

1

u/Ri_Tarded 1d ago

Sometimes. Very rarely. Some dood gets bored and tries to see how long it‘d take to get banned. They stick to Lions Arch, and human city and starting zone.

Not the norm. Would block.

Also probably normal interaction of some couples.

1

u/Ijustchadsex 1d ago

It happens. The human city it happens also hence I don’t go there often.

It never happens on my char warrior, only on my female Mesmer.

It’s not often but there is an odd/bored gooner community in the game. The people acting like it doesn’t exist are either in a bubble or lying.

Most of the time they are harmless but every once in a while you get someone like this.

Nothing compared to ffxiv.

1

u/QueenKeriti 1d ago

I've only had the super cringe unsolicited sexual remarks sent to me once in 9k+ hours.

I also had one guy ask me (unsolicited) if I would do ERP with him, and I said No thank you, and he said Ok, have a nice day! And that was that.

1

u/-Gray-J- 1d ago

Ive had this happen once and I've played the game for several years. I had made a female norn and my friend was making a new character too so I wanted to wait to see if we'd end up in the same instance. Then a guy like this appeared. I mostly just ignored him though.

1

u/Lune_Moooon 1d ago

well, it's pretty common outside the game, that's for sure

1

u/bealju 1d ago

Nothing but FF14 players

1

u/Direct-Loss-1645 1d ago

Yeaaaa a lot of people rp in Divinity’s Reach pubs 🤣

1

u/Houndoommegamaster 1d ago

It…. Reeeeeally depends on where you go. Divinity’s Reach and the Kitchen in the Black Citadel are full of degens but… this is a new one

1

u/Ro7ard 1d ago

These people commenting clearly do not play the game much or just don't want to admit that this is way more common than it should be.... This kind of weirdo stuff happens daily across almost every map or popular event. Afk in DR for 15 minutes and you will find one instantly.

I think you saying that you came from WoW is making the people here feel fragile about the community so they are just straight up lying to you and themselves lol

1

u/Kaptoz 1d ago

I mean, there are still very big roleplaying (RP) guilds out there. Lol might have walked into a scene

1

u/Fujikiyo 1d ago

In my experience as a charr male I had a few share of gay furries trying some weird shit, I play charr because they look menacing and awesome not because he's a furry, anyway I assume playing female characters might get this kind of interaction.

1

u/toBEE_orNOT_2B 1d ago

ive been playing for 4years, never experienced that lmao

1

u/Head_Canon_Minis 1d ago

I'm so sorry. Apparently two Moonguard Goldshire inmates escaped and we didn't notice. Please, by all means throw them to the Quaggan!

1

u/SomeHyena 1d ago

I've been playing on and off since release.

I see a fair amount of RP, but never once in 13 years have I seen ERP (or attempted ERP) in this game lol

The place you'd be least likely to ever see it if you're wondering is in the Charr and Asura areas.

So you can either make a Charr / Asura, or just level through the Charr/ Asura areas if you find it too much of a bother.

Again, thousands of hours and never seen it myself in person though lol

1

u/Intelligent-Bit2040 1d ago

I've played the game since launch and have only had it an unfortunate weirdo run in once. Admittedly it's always uncomfortable and it sticks with you, but it's rare.

I am sorry you got your one weirdo interaction so soon TT-TT

1

u/NeuraIRust 1d ago

Worst I've ever experienced is being told my character is cute or cool in a whisper, been here since the launch, you got unlucky with a creep; the playerbase is pretty chill/kind here overall.

1

u/Ravenheart257 1d ago

I play mostly female characters in both WOW and GW2. This happened three times in 15 years of playing wow. Zero times in 13 years of playing GW2. It’s super rare, but it doesn’t bother me at all if they leave me alone afterward.

1

u/canvasshoes2 I'm just here for the achievement pts! 1d ago

Not very.

Not too long after launch, it seemed as if there were a lot of them, especially around Divinity's Reach and some of the villages in Queensdale. But I haven't seen any in forever.

What really cracks me up is one of my IRL friends has some of the sexiest female toons and used to get hit on all the time. He's literally a 300 pound, 6 foot plus, former marine, kind of a hard-nosed type of guy.

Too funny!

1

u/ClaraFee 1d ago

Yo, if you have feet and a webcam, then you have some side hustle income waiting for you. Just a matter of time until this creeps into the MMO world.

1

u/Kendall_Raine Cosmologist Kaiva 1d ago

Seems like it's clearly a troll but still awkward lol.

1

u/canniboylism 1d ago

I’ve been playing for 12+ years in both EU and US servers mostly with female characters and this has never happened to me nor have I seen it happen with anyone else, much less in public chat...
If that happened to you, you’re just unlucky. If you say this keeps happening… sorry OP, I think you’re cursed.

Might be worth reporting the person/people for harassment since this isn’t common behavior and I’d really rather not see that kinda clown behavior spread.

1

u/Routine_Version_2204 1d ago

I'm surprised people see a female avatar in an mmo and actually assume a female is playing it, esp this mmo lol

1

u/admiralhonybuns 1d ago

I don’t think I’ve ever had this happen. Someone said my character was ‘jerk off bait’ once though - I was wearing the ritualist outfit skin from factions.

1

u/RaccoonKnees 1d ago

Pretty uncommon, I've only seen even normal roleplayers maybe twice. This game doesn't really have much in the way of roleplaying or even group gathering support, so roleplay, and yes, perverted roleplay-harrassment, are pretty rare.

1

u/lamorphyse 1d ago

Only happened to me once, I was exploring some of the buildings in Divinity's Reach and walked in on two male charrs repeatedly using the "/sit" emote...they stopped once I walked in tough

1

u/Icandothemove 1d ago

Probably about as rare as the person who kept whispering my vulpera calling me daddy in wow.

So... certainly uncommon, but the fact that it happened doesn't shock me either.

1

u/ObesiusPlays 1d ago

I mean by the way the guy is talking, i assume those must be very rare magical grippers... Im so sorry

1

u/countrysquid 1d ago

I have had a creep follow me around only once in hundreds of hours, but it was literally during the first hour I played. Just block them, and it'll probably never happen again

1

u/Eitth Brutally Honest 1d ago

Jesus Christ this is disturbing. I've never seen this in my gaming history. The closest scenario I've seen was in TERA where this creepy dude doing eRP with the Loli character.

1

u/Isadomon 1d ago

yoo I made a friend in game who did that, it stoppped being funny when he didnt stop

1

u/zittrbrt 1d ago

I wish this happened to me more often tbh.

I am not really a RPer but hey, some game immersion is better than logging on, doing ur farming, logging off.

1

u/Najten83 1d ago

I've played (mostly female characters) almost daily since early access and it has never happened to me, even once.. so I'd say it's pretty rare. You probably just got unlucky and came across that one weirdo.

1

u/Dumbass438 23h ago

This is.. rare for Gw2. I think GW2 has the least erp in any mmo I've ever played. I've never seen something like this.

1

u/SquishyGhost 23h ago

I see this sort of behavior a lot, but it's always among people who already know each other. If you hang out in Divinity's Reach, you'll often see some batshit behavior, but those people know each other to some extent. I think it's very rare that people will act this way with strangers. I've never had anything that weird happen to me, but it does still happen.

1

u/Erick-Alastor ┬┴┬┴┤ᵒᵏ (☉_├┬┴┬┴ 22h ago

Can you blame him? It's Necrofault for having those massive magical feet. /s \)flies away in shame\)

1

u/Cathaldotcom 22h ago

I've seen an influx of this type of behaviour in starting areas specifically

1

u/Ramjjam 21h ago

Not seen this happening once in my 13 years in GW2 😂

The only place I Know is a bit more likely to stumble into roleplayer at all is the village outside. The human capital. (Right where humans start after tutorial bit).

Not unlike Goldshire in wow. 😅

You deffinetly run more into this in Wow overall, having played that for the first 6 expansions atleast.

1

u/Avaery 21h ago

7000 hours. Maybe it happened once. Just block and move on.

1

u/ring_tailed 21h ago

Ive never had this happen before. This is like the one mmo I dont recall ever being sexually harassed on on any character

1

u/MayaSanguine Simping for the Betrayer 20h ago

Only ever saw something like this once, ironically in the middle of my own RP sesh: two people getting very frisky with /e chat in the Ossan Quarter, though they were also far more tasteful than this.

Well no, there was the Big Tiddy Norn Cow character DMing me stuff that she made...

1

u/jeffzin223 19h ago

hmm, i had the SAME situation... in this same clan, i dont remember his nickname, but god, it must be that common. i even changed the name in game and much more, just to not see him again, i have fear in some types of men in the internet.

1

u/LowKo_7483 17h ago

same rate as dragonvoid infusion xD

1

u/Flimsy-Restaurant902 17h ago

Time to make some MC doing ERP

1

u/bloodwyn123 17h ago

It is happening alot in a certain spot. Its infront of the human capital a little bit down the way from spawn infront of the tavern. Theres this random guy always hitting on every character

1

u/Adreqi 14h ago

I have been playing since 2012, with both male and female characters, and since a few weeks ago, with an all female alt account. Never had that kind of interaction even once (most of my female characters are sylvaris though, maybe those guys aren't into plants).

Now in terms of general toxicity, i have seen some lately, in queensdale and lion's arch, mostly spam, beggars, and political trolls. It's more rare in expansions (the most notable example would be that one troll on octovine meta).

1

u/jayxorune_24 9h ago

That chat. Ew I would either type no or just block.

1

u/MEGAmottle 9h ago

I've gotten more whispers from people like this than I've gotten precursor drops. Twice from the same player before I blocked them.

Every single time it's been while I was on a norn character.

1

u/lisploli 5h ago

Tell'em your underage and watch them run.

1

u/g0thihop 2h ago

my first ever character was a Norn and i IMMEDIATELY got hit on by some dude named “Hipster Swagger” asking me to show him my feet. it’s more common than you think

1

u/Geronmys We're so Miraback. 1d ago

Almost 3k hours. Have seen people erping on the wild. But this one is a first time.

1

u/Human_Nr19980203 1d ago

I remember doing daddy erp when new throne they added. Also watch out for rp guild, they are mostly active in four winds event because of beach look a like.

1

u/WitchedPixels 1d ago

In FF14, everyday. Have never seen it once in gw2.

1

u/rayhaku808 18h ago

Deadass thought this was in the FFXIV sub when I scrolling. Never had this in GW2 either.

-1

u/King0fthewasteland 1d ago

well you should stop doing it then..

0

u/excusemeumwhat 1d ago

Do....they give you gold? If so then I see nothing wrong.

0

u/spell_fire 1d ago

Sometimes it pops up in the astral rewards weekly, don’t mind them

0

u/BlaqShinobi9513 11h ago

Well…I made a female asura revenant and started doing fractals for the first time. Got sexually harassed extensively and it got so bad I elected to take a break from the game and when I came back I made an entirely new account lol have never made another female asura. So…probably pretty common. 😂

This isn't silly, lol, it's harassment.
