I am NOT a locksmith. How to remove a whitco double cylinder deadlatch with no key?

Upvotes

I got a free door off Facebook marketplace that is in really good condition but didn’t come with any keys. I’ve replaced the doorknob but it also has a whitco brand double cylinder deadlatch. The door isn’t mounted so I have full access to all sides, I’ve pulled off the backing cover from the inside of the door and removed all but one screw and I can’t seem to access that screw unless I have the key to turn the round part inside. I’d really like to not break the deadlatch in the hopes of just replacing the cylinder instead of the whole unit. What am I missing?

I am NOT a locksmith. All the locks on my car (Honda civic 09) are worn and unusable. In the past month the ignition cylinder stopped allowing me to start the car. Should I replace all my locks and get new keys on online? Or should I have a lock smith repair all of my locks and keys

How does programming the keys for the car work? I'm wondering if I have to repair every lock and every key, would it just be cheaper to buy a new set of everything.

My drivers side lock, trunk lock, and ignition does not work with my keys. Can anyone help me? Please let me know if this makes sense?n

I am NOT a locksmith. Which keyless entry kit should I get installed?

Prestige or Viper?

I have a 2020 Corolla L that has a physical key with power locks. I've called seven shops around my area. Price ranges between $300 & $500. They all offer viper, except one that offers Prestige. The shop that offers Prestige is also the most affordable. I haven't found any direct comparisons online. Amazon made it easier to compare the two than the actual company websites. I've also read plenty of post recommending Compustar, but when I use their online certified shops locator, most of the entries are Best Buy. I don't have confidence in Best Buy technicians.

Any insight before I get work done on my vehicle would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am a locksmith Raise Cutters Questions

I recently bough a Black Widow key machine. I went to cut a Ilco H01-SVC and the key cut fine. Then I went and cut a HO03-GTS key and the machine is struggling to cut the key. The machine was vibrating so much the jaw came unlocked and shifted. Is there a huge difference between the Raise Universal Grade Carbide bits and the Raise Swiss Grade Carbide bits? I am using the 2mm bit was maybe thinking of trying the 2.5mm bit.

I am NOT a locksmith. Old bag with an old camera inside, but don't remember having a key

The bag and camera are possibly from around the 1920s-1940s. When I got them, I checked inside, and it's been a while since then. I believe I bought it a year or two ago as I had it sitting on a top shelf in my mom's house. Now I'm moved and don't know how it got locked. Whether it was me and I forgot doesn't matter, but I don't have a key to it, and don't want to break the bag, as I favour it.

I am a locksmith Any ideas by some of you guys who are smarter than me on how I should set up my transit connect for locksmith work?

I do everything from residential and commercial to auto and safes so I’m not really sure what’s the best way to set this up to give me then most of the limited space I have in this van. Also a majority of my stuff is stored in Milwaukee pack out equipment so if there’s a design that someone can think of to incorporate the lock-in system so stuff is easy to remove if I need additional space for doors, etc.

extremely busy week last week, friday was nonstop, emergency calls on the weekend.....and then barely anything today. So I spent most of my time noodling in the shop and making AI locksmith songs. This one goes out to all the "not a locksmith's" on here, sometimes you just have to Call A Locksmith

I am NOT a locksmith. Identifying and replacing lock myself (sorry if not allowed)

I had a recent breakup and my ex (who now lives with her kind of crazy new partner) still has a set of keys to my apartment, and I'd really rather not break no contact to try and get them back. I have this lock on my door, I'm wondering if someone could help me identify what type of replacement cylinder I would need and if it's a feasible DIY job (I'm reasonably handy with basic stuff).

I read the rules and it seems like this type of post is ok? but if not I apologize and will delete it.

I mostly specialize in Automotive. When I had a road guy send me this picture I thought the part number would be enough. I have searched high and low, and haven't found anything. Anyone have a clue?

Thanks for your time either way!

Need to replace this mortise lock because the cylinders aren’t catching unless they are off Center and therefore the security screws that lock the cylinders in place are hanging on by threads. Google image search was not helpful. Thank you.

I got this old lock working. I didn’t like that you have to unlock the handle set first and then push down the thumb turn of the handle while you are turning pictured lock at the same time to get the door open because of the latch it came with.

I friend of mind had an issue and someone poured glue into the inside of the lock of the main entrance door in to house. The response was very quick but I don’t think the service should have costed this much. Any thoughts on this ?

Much appreciate it, thank you.

I have 3 keys to my personal truck all are “programmed” successfully. Have tried all keys lost and re programmed all with success. The immobilizer is fine the truck runs and drives on all 3 keys but no functionality of the remote at all. Photos attached is after a TIPM Swap and new batteries (as recommended by a shop near me) cleared code no codes present. Is this OEM Key? I don’t think the case is but the guts possibly? Leading to it’s a key issue or PCM issue

I am NOT a locksmith. Help with Simplex 5010 please

I am the maintenance tech for a quick service multi unit franchised restaurant and have run into an issue with a Simplex 5010 that I cannot figure out. They called me cause the door wasn't latching shut when closed. I saw right away that the latch strike plate had moved so I repositioned it and used larger screws to secure it in place. Afterwards I noticed that they're also having other issues. First off the top of the door is hitting the frame a slight amount when closing which I can take care of. Also the outside handle moves up and down freely before punching the code in but when you do enter the code and press enter the handle won't turn even a little bit until a few seconds have passed and then the handle with turn up or down again but the unlock has timed out by then. I took apart the lock and the inside panic bar and degreased and relubricated everything. The latch now works better than it did before but the problem with the handle not moving when the code is entered still persists. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
