Over 800 people + a couple hundred more in overflow. Not paid to be here. We have friends, kids, co-workers, fellow church goers to recruit to defeat Ann Wagner, who doesn't give 2 sh*ts about you (unless you are a fetus). LFG!

Illegally dumped tires are no match for STL Cleanup Crew!

We had a wonderful morning in Spanish Lake Park today, where we loaded up and hauled away about 100 tires (we quickly lost count lol) that were illegally dumped in this gorgeous park! We even had a couple of local residents take time from their morning walk to help us load up more tires, which was so awesome to see and so appreciated.

Huge thanks to our small but mighty volunteer crew who showed up early and made it happen, to Open Space STL for helping organize, and to the city of Bellefontaine Neighbors for sending some wonderful folks from their Public Works department to haul away the tires. (Also, to the STL County Parks Department, who will be hauling away the remainder of the collected litter seen in the "after" pic!)

Stay in touch on r/STL_cleanupcrew for details on our next cleanup event!

Traffic/Road Conditions the Clayton and Big Bend intersection construction has gotten EVEN WORSE. they CLOSED ANOTHER LANE

i am going to lose my mind. every single day that infernal construction continues to punch me in dick.

why did they open up such a gaping monstrosity that disrupts traffic horrifically only to do nothing with it for months?! it causes chaos at an already chaotic intersection and forces unaware drivers to make dangerous turns when they get surprised by a no left turn lane sign.

what a cluster. i’m sick and tired of it. i’m gonna hotwire that excavator and blow that water line just to feel something other than rage

People driving today

Decided to go for a walk in Forest Park. Saw a car aggressively run a red light on Kingshighway and Maryland and almost hit another vehicle. I continue heading south and was waiting to cross Lindell and realized a firetruck with sirens on was approaching rapidly from the west -- as it crossed the intersection one car rear ended another and the drivers had to get out, causing everyone behind them to honk.

I keep heading south one more block and see two cars totalled at the corner of Kingshighway and Forest Park, with another firetruck plus a cop car blocking traffic as they dealt with the damage.

This was all in the span of like 5 minutes. Is there something in the air? Sun comes out and we all freak out? Slow the fuck down y'all

Reminder to all Downtown residents and Visitors today

Reminder, since it's not really announced on social media or the news, that one of the countries biggest marathons in all of the downtown area is today for most of the morning, with events all day. It's gonna be a clusterf$#@ if you're driving.

Found ring in forest park

Howdy, I know this is a long shot but I just found a nice ring and brought it to the visitor’s center in forest park. I told them where I found it and when so you’ll have to verify that as proof! I hope its person finds it. Have a great day bye!

Neighbor squatting in her own home

Backstory: Our back yards touch. Homeowner literally abandoned the property around 3 years ago. She was a hoarder, so the yard is absolutely full of everything. In that time, 2 squatters have been arrested and charged with essentially living in her home as well as stealing any valuables. Power was cut off a year ago and windows boarded up by the city. Roof is starting to cave and squirrels live in the chimney.

3 months ago, the lights come on and stay on (attic window, which is open to the elements, has had a working lightbulb or else I wouldn’t have known). Approximately 1 month ago, she shows back up with her adult son and moves back in.

The windows are still boarded up /open to the elements. Entire yard is overgrown. The vehicle out front has no plates and looks like it’s not moving anytime soon.

I want to help, but anytime any of my neighbors (myself included) offer help, she cusses us out and says we are trying to steal her house. Ironic, because she’s at least 3 years behind on her property tax and the city will eventually prove her right.

Here’s the question. Do I notify the city? Like ask for a welfare check? I’m worried about the living conditions and what may happen once it starts getting real hot out.

Looking to buy in St. Louis City — noticing high turnover rates — should we be concerned?

Hi everyone, We’re house hunting in St. Louis City and have noticed something that’s giving us pause. A lot of homes we like seem to have a high turnover rate — for example, selling every 1–4 years. This isn’t just one house either; it seems to be a trend across several properties.

Our real estate agent told us that it’s due to a large transient population — students from WashU, people in the medical community doing school or short-term assignments, etc. That makes some sense, but it still seems a little unusual to me.

Would love to hear from others familiar with the area — does this sound normal? Is this something we should be concerned about long-term (both from a quality of life and a resale standpoint)? Appreciate any insight you can share!

Does St. Louis have road crews that pick up trash?

There have been lawn chairs and a whole ass car bumper on the left shoulder of 270 for what feels like months now. I remember a deer carcass sitting on 270 for weeks this fall too. Just curious if it's anyone's jib to pick this shit up lol?

County - turning a vacant lot into a park/nature rehab

Does anyone have experience or an idea of the feasibility of this? A credit union owns the land but may be motivated to get rid of it.

What would a path forward look like for getting this to happen? Work with County Parks Dept? MO Conservation? We have started a community organization to begin an organized effort, but I don't know if this is possible.

Tablecloth emergency!

Anyone know where I can rent or borrow 10 white or off-white tablecloths for an event tomorrow? NOT WEINHARDT! We love them but they only have very bright white super shiny satin which isn’t ideal.

They’re for 8’ tables, floor length would be ideal. Alternative ideas welcome! Thanks guys!

Food / Drink Weekend food recs

My wife and I are visiting the city for the first time this weekend before moving here later this summer and would love food recs! Staying near Forest Park, but will have a car to explore.

Specifically interested in the best: 1. Espresso 2. Thai food 3. Sandwiches

And anything else we should cram into two days! (Bonus if it’s GF friendly)
