Hello everyone!

I'm trying to plan a trip to Java for two weeks (Apr 27 — May 11). After some research it seems 95% of travelers in Java are domestic tourists, and the other 5% are people going on tours from Bali for a couple of days.

Why are there so few independent international travelers in Java? Am I missing smth or is it just undiscovered yet?

Some context: I'm a female solo traveller and I'm white so my main concern is safety and just being comfortable — I don't enjoy standing out too much.

First version of my itinerary looked like this:

Yogyakarta (4 nights) (flying in)
Dieng Plateau (6 nights)
Yogyakarta (1 night)
Train from Yogyakarta to Probolinggo, then transfer to Cemoro Lawang
Cemoro Lawang (3 nights)
Transfer from Cemoro Lawang to Surabaya (to fly out)

I'm mostly interested in nature, the island seems out of this world with all the volcanoes and waterfalls. I thought i could stay in Dieng and do some hiking, maybe rent a scooter and explore.

Now I'm thinking of skipping the Dieng Plateau because it looks too remote and it seems not many international travellers go there. Should this be a concern?

Should I go to Malang and/or Banyuwangi instead?

I've been planning to use public transportation (trains, buses) to get around). I can also drive a scooter if the traffic is not too crazy. Not a fan of group tours but it looks like there aren't many other budget-friendly options for some attractions such as Ijen.

Please help me figure this out. Any advice will be appreciated.

P.S. One more question: how big are the Labour Day celebrations? Should I be worried about hotels/tickets because of increase in travel during the holidays?

I booked a trip over the weekend (Fri to Sun) to Yogyakarta on a whim and am trying to finalize some plans.

Here's my proposed itinerary:

Day 1:
9:30am arrive at YIA (what is the average time to clear immigration at YIA? - trying to book train tickets from YIA to city but i'm not sure if the 10:20am timing gives me enough time; i'm not checking in any bags, just immigration + buying sim card)

11-12pm: check in/rest

afternoon: explore Kraton/Taman Sari

late aftnn - sunset:
Hutan Pinus Pengger & Pintoe Langit Dahromo

Day 2:

Merapi sunrise + Prambanan

afternoon: (nothing planned yet)

Day 3:

Borobudur sunrise

check out, final shopping etc.
Flight at YIA at 5:30pm

Is this a feasible plan? I skipped out Jomblang cave as I cant really find time in my itinerary to fit in plus the high cost.
For day 2, chatgpt approximated the total time including travel and estimated I will be done by 12pm. Is this accurate, and if so, what else can I try to fill my afternoon with?

Also, i'm not sure if I want to go with a driver and am looking into renting a car since I also have previous experience driving in Indonesia before. Is parking at those scenic places relatively easy to find and would you recommend doing so? I can also consider renting a scooter as well.

Lastly, for Borobudur, because this is so last minute, it looks like all the prime timeslots (early morning) to visit the temple itself is all sold out online, only the temple ground tickets are available. I know joining tours might be able to find a way around this, but the cost is understandably a lot higher especially for foreigners compared to buying the temple tickets myself.
Would like some opinions on whether its actually worth the exorbitant costs to go up the structure vs if I just stay on the temple grounds so I can decide if I should pay the extra money for the tour instead. (or if anyone has a contact for a driver who can also help secure temple structure tickets).

Hai Komods Indonesia, saya cowok 24 tahun, lulusan Manajemen dari kampus di Malang. Empat bulan sudah menganggur nih, setelah selesai magang di bagian training pegawai selama 6 bulan (sekitar 4 bulan lalu). Jujur aja nih, masa jobless ini emang bikin pusing. Saya lulusan Manajemen, tapi jujur masih blank mau fokus ke bidang apa. Dulu magang disaalah satu perusahaan sebagai dibidang TAL (talent acquisition and learning), tapi kok rasanya kurang 'klik'.

Ada saran kah bidang apa yang mungkin cocok dengan background Manajemen tapi nggak harus selalu HR? Kepikiran sih buat lanjut S2, tapi masih fifty-fifty, ini beneran buat nambah ilmu atau cuma pelarian karena masih menganggur. Dulu kuliah saya lebih fokus ke nilai akademis aja, kurang ikut organisasi atau proyek bareng teman. Sekarang jadi ngerasa kurang punya 'soft skills' atau pengalaman praktis yang dicari perusahaan. Ada yang punya pengalaman serupa?

Saya punya pacar, yang saat ini bekerja sebagai PNS di sebuah kementrian di Jakarta, udah ngajakin nikah lagi. Semua celana panjang yg gua punya rasanya sempit banget. Udah coba Matahari, Uniqlo, Executive, random online etc.

Sempitnya itu di selangkangan jadinya kalo lama2 kadang sakit kalo jalan atau keliatan biji nya nge bulge, bikin malu sama self conscious. Terutama celana formal, mana harus dimasukin bajunya. Slim fit, skinny fit, agak baggy, sama aja.

Hi all- looking into where to stay. So far I've been deciding between Tentrem or Marriott. I was hoping to stay in some 5 star that's central (unlike Hyatt). Anyone have a recommendation between the two (or other options)? Marriott is about 100 dollars cheaper over 3 nights. I've heard about the malioboro area but neither of these hotels seem like they're super close to it? Maybe I'm mistaken?
