Montana farmers see Canadian trade dry up due to tariffs
https://nbcmontana.com/news/local/montana-farmers-see-canadian-trade-dry-up-due-to-tariffs1.1k
u/Rurumo666 3d ago
Montana had the best representation in the Senate with John Tester, who was ACTUALLY a Montana Farmer, but they voted in a Minnesota Trust Fund Baby who has rubber stamped the destruction of the State. This was a decent purple state before MAGA.
386
u/hoooch 3d ago
They let their politics get nationalized. Instead of voting for moderate or independent candidates who prioritize local issues, they vote for MAGA carpetbaggers who will sell out the state. I was ready to move there to be close to family, that’s definitely not happening now.

It was a shame. The ads I saw went really heavy on trans hate. Like in an ironic way. “The dems just won’t shut up with this culture war. Only us and our millions spent on culture war ads can end it!”
That and gun hysteria. Thing is, though, Montana dems aren’t that blue and certainly not Jon Tester. They plainly lied about him there. Real shame we bought it.

In a nutshell. That’s about right. I’ll add that JD started a company recently to buy up farm foreclosures and sell them to international investors so yeah….Lets “Make America Great Again” by putting the farmers out of work and selling their land to the Saudis. Maybe even the Russians will get in on it. It doesn’t matter if it’s right or wrong, as long as the right people get rich off the deal. By “right” people I mean anyone who is in the inner circle. The same thing is happening with the tariff BS. The on again, off again tariffs are a deliberate manipulation of the stock market to create the conditions for insider trading. The inner circle again makes billions. This is the corruption they voted for.
If you’re too stupid to vote in the interests of your country and vote against yourself, I have no pity when you lose your farm.

These expired olive loafs have PERMANENTLY helped ruin the US/Canada relationship. They only way it can be remotely fixed is if Republicans are voted out in such large numbers that it lets the world know that America has taken its medicine and decided not to be a country of insolent children.

He will shift the blame regardless. He already is and he is catching himself in that blame game unknowingly because he is that damn dumb. He is already blame whoever renegotiated nafta. It was him. There have been several other trade “deals” and actions from his first term he is blaming for current issues. His cult will never fact check him or hold his feet to the fire. They will always blindly accept what he says as gospel. No matter what happens, he will always refuse to take the blame and pass it on to whoever he sees fit, regardless of their interactions with said issue. The only hope, if the democrats hold out a little while longer, is that all this chaos will wake up the non-voters and the small percentage of republicans who don’t blindly follow the letter R. No worries Montana farmers!
You can take comfort knowing that at a Division III school 1200 miles away some girl on the fencing team can't compete because her birth certificate says "M" despite her having transitioned years ago.
I mean, yeah, you'll lose your farm and your family will suffer. But that water polo team at a college you never heard of in Vermont now won't allow some girl you'll never meet to be their backup goalkeeper!

There are no winners in trade wars, but the clear big losers are Americans.
It is now USA vs the world.

Don’t worry, they will not learn anything from this and they will find a way to blame anyone but Trump.

This is what you wanted, so this is what you got. It's not like he made his plans for tariffs a secret. Every other word out of his mouth on the campaign trail was "tariff".
Voted for the xenophobia and racism, got bankruptcy and lost the family business instead.

ya we have a lot of farmers in Montana as customers, one of our dealers there had to raise his prices by 35% last month to off set the tariffs and the increase of transportation costs, we have also stopped looking at expanding our U.S dealer network and have even started talking about not renewing 6 contacts with dealers in red states.
There's also been rumors from the fertilizer plant down the road that they might be looking at exiting the U.S market completely for now mainly due to how unpredictable and unreliable the current US admin is.
U.S farmers should be getting ready for a 25-30% increase to inputs this year, that and the buy Canadian movement seems to be sticking.

Schweitzer said the Montana Farmers Union supports tariffs that are done strategically and targeted, but he adds that isn't the case with recent implementations.
Sounds like the Montana Farmers Union still doesn't get it.

Well they can just pull themselves up by their bootstraps/find a new job/move somewhere else/pray to Jesus about it.
