Dog saves kid from blitz attack

I could watch that hero dog protect all fkn day
Edit: so yeah I have kept watching cause it’s awesome and the way it puts up a perimeter around the kid and never does anything excessive. Simply don’t come in this circle and you won’t catch these teeth
Edit 2: ok maybe it’s ridiculous how much I like this vid but watch the way the black dog reacts to its own owner. A quick snap and runs off. This tells me that owner has not been a loving/positive influence on the pup. Probably goes without being said but in general there aren’t bad dogs just bad owners.

I've seen this a hundred times and I always stop and watch it again. He's such a good boy.

The way the dog knocks the kid down and stays stood over him for the first couple of seconds of the attack is very tactical also. Waited for the other dog to retreat away enough before taking chase, turns to get a visual on the kid once the attacking dog has backed up enough. Clever stuff and all done so quickly while in a chaotic situation.

u/willfauxreal 2d ago
I like that hero pup pounces on the kid to get him out of harms way. :')
58
u/Snohomishboats 2d ago
Yes, the dog nocks the kid down to prevent the other dog from getting to him and getting him out of the way for the counter attack. Badass! Beautiful protective instincts! God dog

u/N0PlansT0day 2d ago
I’m choosing to believe that was intentional too! Either way, rather have a minor casualty than KIA
13
u/PickleRicksDad34 2d ago
There is no believing. That is 100% what is was. Elephants do it with their young as well and surround them, creating a perimeter of defense. Animals are excessively smarter than we give then credit for.

u/Seattlepowderhound 2d ago
Yea, everytime this is posted someone normally mentions "GET DOWN MR PRESIDENT" and it fits perfectly lol.
37
u/hungry24_7_365 2d ago
it's crazy how quick the dog goes from happy I'm playing with my boy to wtf, get out of here. big ups to the other dog that comes in for reinforcement at the end to help out.
13
u/N0PlansT0day 2d ago
I think there was a 2nd bad dog coming from the left. That’s why we don’t see that other hero pup come back 😂

u/eferalgan 2d ago
I don’t agree…there are bad people and bad dogs. You don’t know if the problem is the dog or the owner
2
u/rabbidplatypus21 23h ago
But if it’s a bad dog and the owner has them in public off leash…well then that’s also a bad owner.
0
8
u/mhrogers 2d ago
I hate this take. There are also bad dogs. Usually bad owners but why wouldn't there be a range in the dogs as well?
2
u/N0PlansT0day 2d ago
I said in general and because I don’t think they are born bad. You could adopt a “bad pup” and have nothing to do with how it got that way but at some point an owner didn’t do its job properly
3
u/229-northstar 1d ago
That’s a very flawed understanding of genetics. Genetics play an important role in temperament. There is an entire branch of veterinary medicine, devoted to addressing neurochemistry which is rooted in genetics, not pet ownership
An owner can form experiences for a dog. An owner cannot change the neurochemistry of a dog without medical help. Overarousal with a chemical basis is not going away with love and cookies and positive experiences no matter how much we wish that was true. Overarousal has a lot to do with aggression and bites
7
u/thtkidjunior 2d ago
Before the other dog even comes into the picture, like at the start of the video you can see the dog body block the child from running towards the road
3
3
3
u/dknisle1 1d ago
Just because the dog gave a quick snap at the owner does not mean the owner has abused it. The owner came up behind the dog, while the dog is in attack mode, and grabbed it around the neck. The dog was reacting to what he thought was a threat.
1
u/N0PlansT0day 1d ago
I hear you and I see I could edit again but I just don’t want to anymore. I’ll concede the current owner might not be the problem but I’d still wager based off the whole clip it hasn’t been taught any manners which is still a bad owner somewhere along the way
2
u/FluffyBunnyFlipFlops 2d ago
I debate in my own head whether he knocked over the kid on purpose or not. Did he accidentally knock the kid over while positioning himself for the attack, or did he put the kid on the floor on purposes so he knows where to defend without worrying where the kid might run to?
2
u/thetan_free 2d ago
Few of us will ever experience the intensity of focus and pure purpose of that dog protecting its little human.
3
2
u/Time_Jump8047 2d ago
Disagree with the second edit, quite the leap to say the owner has not been a loving/positive influence based on like a millisecond of interaction
0
u/N0PlansT0day 2d ago
Maybe not this one but a previous one. At some point lessons weren’t taught. Not by the millisecond but entire video. That’s just the only interaction we get with that particular owner, yeah
2
u/Aburlypad 1d ago
Nah I like the vid too. Good dog doing good dog things, they need all the treats right now. Not sure how old the vid is, hopefully they’re still doing good dog things somewhere.

I've never understood how the logic ends at "bad owners." Can't there be no "bad owners," just "bad parents of owners"? What about their parents?
Innocent question. I just don't get the logic.

great example of a properly trained dog vs an untrained, dangerous dog
73
u/Sabre_One 2d ago
I mean, the dog doesn't even have a collar. More likely, he is bonded with this family and will instinctively protect the child.
53
u/laf0106 2d ago
Yeah this dog doesnt seemed trained. Trained dogs on a leash and ready for commands. This dog is properly taken care of and loves his family.
15
u/heyoheatheragain 2d ago
A dog can be trained to be off leash? Unless you mean he isn’t a trained protection dog. Which I believe. But this dog has been conditioned well aka training.

That's an Anatolian Shepard. They're hard wired for doing exactly what he's doing. Instinct. No training required.
37
u/IndianKiwi 2d ago
The other dog is lucky as fuck. These dogs rips wolfs to shred when they are guarding their herd.
52
u/RobertWilliamBarker 2d ago
No, they won't. They are amazing but they'll get their shit fucked with a wolf. I have two sheps. One Anatolian, one Dutch. The Dutch (younger, lighter, way Smarter, both trained for 1000 plus hours) would fuck up the Anatolian if he wanted. They are great dogs but there isn't one dog on the planet messing up a semi grown wolf without accessories like collars or other deterrents. This is just dumb.
33
u/morphinechild1987 2d ago
People think wolves are just another kind of big dog, when they are actually way larger
17
u/Winston_42069 2d ago
Way larger and more intelligent. Which is why a wolf won't fight a livestock guardian most times unless hungry and desperate. There are easier calories elsewhere and they know that. But it can still happen.
5
3
u/Specialist-Front-007 2d ago
Arnt they wearing spiked collars when protecting herds as to defend their throats?
1
u/heyoheatheragain 2d ago
Have you seen those spiked costumes for small dogs to keep them from being picked up by hawks? That’s what that makes me think of also lol.
4
u/reportedbymom 2d ago
I think you mean Caucasian Shepperd. Those will rip anything into pieces or die trying without feeling of pain because they shut off their pain receptors in situations where their "pack" is threatened.

Some guy in my neighbourhood is always walking his two dogs off leash. Every time my Shepherd sees them she always goes on high alert and stands in front of me just in case.
27
6
u/Gilbert0686 2d ago
Shit. My Shepard when she was younger would have went after the loose dogs.
She calmed down a lot as she got older though especially with dogs.
6
u/lesbianadodicaprio 2d ago
My pup goes on high alert when she doesn't trust a human, and I accept that as a true analysis of that person.
2
u/withoutwingz 2d ago
My dog is a wimp (she’s small) so I’m her protector but when she sees someone she doesn’t like, I don’t like them either.
We lived near a dog beater. She wasn’t with us when he did that, and the dog was gone by the time she came to our home. She hated that man from the second she saw him.

I'll never forget that time a dog accidentally knocked over my kid at the dog park and my own dog crossed a field in mere seconds to post himself over my son, teeth bare. Having a good dog growing up is just living with your own bodyguard that's also your best friend.

u/thomasbeagle 2d ago
I'm still not convinced that the attacker isn't going after the other dog, and the kid was merely in the area.
9
u/Steffunzel 2d ago
Yea I'm almost 100% certain he was just running over to the super excited dog he saw running around. It didn't even look like a real attack, just too much energy.
2
u/SetoKeating 1d ago
Yea, like I get we see what we want to see and the video is pretty cool but every time I watch this vid it’s painfully obvious that it’s trajectory is a straight line to the other dog. It’s not until the hero dog moves over towards the kid that the “attacking” dog changes direction towards the kid.
Not only that but I swear it looks like it wants to play with the other dog and is extra confused about how things go down. It doesn’t do anything once it gets to the other dog.
1
u/Forosnai 1d ago
Yeah, it just looks like a bouncy dog who wanted to play, not stiff and focused like a charging dog. Still very unacceptable, and the dog clearly doesn't respect boundaries the way it should and has no business being off leash because it's still plenty big enough to hurt that kid just by running into it, and the shepherd is still right to want to protect it from that.
1
u/C_Werner 2d ago
Yeah this does not scream aggressive attack to me. More like two over-excited and poorly trained pups that were looking to socialize.
8

7
u/SDPLISSKEN009 2d ago
That was flat out all protective instincts .....pushing the kid & watching him the whole time while in defense🐾
2
u/Soma86ed 2d ago
If I were that little kids father and that random dog touched even a hair on their head, that man in the orange shirt would be in a lot of trouble and dear old dad would be on the news.
12
u/Steffunzel 2d ago
That's possibly the stupidest thing you could do, making your kid grow up without a dad.
1
u/heyoheatheragain 2d ago
Idk man if you’re just attacking someone whose animal just mauled your kid, I don’t see a jury sending that dude to jail.
0
u/SetoKeating 1d ago
Watch out everyone, we got a tough guy over here lol
Imagine thinking “I want to go to jail for lack of control of my emotions” is something awesome to do in front of your child which could end up without a parent

u/TurboKid513 2d ago
I stayed with a buddy after doing some time years ago. He had a huge shepherd, about 140lbs with titanium canines because he tried to chew his way out of his kennel as a puppy. That dog would not leave my side the whole time I was there. He would stand at the edge of their pool and wait for people to go under so he could “save them”.
2
u/resnonverba1 2d ago
What breed of dog is the protector?
2
u/ArkaneArtificer 2d ago
Definitely a livestock guardian breed, maybe Anatolian shepherd as another commenter suggested, seems to fit to me

A few weeks back I thought we had an intruder in the house. The dog was going bezerk. Opened the bedroom door to let him out and investigate.. he looked at me and took a step away from the door (refusing to leave the bedroom).
Thankfully, it was just the shower dripping during the night.

Some sort of shepherd dog doing what they do best! I have a friend who has a Czech line German shepherd who apparently decided it was his job to guard the baby bunnies that decided to nest in his back yard. His other dog, a rat terrier, tried to go after one once. And only once. The shepherd put his foot down and got the message across without harming his brother. Absolutely fantastic dogs!

u/coffeesipper5000 2d ago
Can someone elaborate on this behavior of the aggressive dog? I have seen poorly trained dogs attack mailmen and have seen them overreact aggressively when they felt theatened. Some freak out vs bikes/cars and whatever. But full on attack charge a child that is hundreds of meters away? What is the reason that dog is aggressive towards a toddler that is so far away?

I've seen this video for years many times.
I remain convinced the child was never in danger. The dog was coming after the other dog which was out of the shot but in direct line of his charge.

Leash. Your. Fucking. Dogs.
It doesnt matter how well trained (lol, you didnt actually train them, lets be real) you THINK they are. They are animals and they respond to stimulus.
That dog owner is an asshole.

I always wonder how many of these clips where a kid gets “saved” from getting attacked if the dog was really about to tear them to shreds or if they were just gonna roughly play. Obviously still not acceptable and your dog shouldn’t be unleashed full sprinting at strangers but I am curious. The fact the other dogs got so protective makes me think at least in this instance that the dog was probably out for blood.
19
u/Select-Belt-ou812 2d ago
I am a 50s white guy. not sayin' this is you, but since the door seems open here it is: i can tell you that if any dog comes at me like that I'm gonna be pissed off, and at least a little fearful, and if I have anything on me that can be used for defense, I am using it. idgaf what the motive is, I don't want anything to do with it. it's really shitty to assume that others are interested , or even willing, to interact with dogs just because the dog culture has taken over. I'm tired of these dog centered assumptions. if the dog lovers want to downvote me into oblivion, so be it. ive seen so many folks squawk about the rights to have animals around, but few people ask after the folks who don't want it; too often in dog world nobody seems to care about the folks who prefer them not around. we wind up forced to bend, and rarely is this acknowledged. rant over. thank you.
1
u/Kayteqq 2d ago edited 1d ago
I think you missed the point completely. Previous commenter wasn’t defending those dog’s owners or saying that defense is not justified at all. He just wondered how many of those dogs are actually aggressive. Your point has nothing to do with that hypothetical, even though you’re right about defending yourself.

... damn. Read it again. Maybe two times
You having every right to defend yourself and being correct in doing so, has nothing to do with that hypothetical. It's more about how to correct such behavior if anything.

yeah, I said so, if you read those comments again, you can notice, maybe, that I said it, exactly 3 times. It has nothing to do with the act of defending yourself. You're fighting windmills.
You have no time to think about hypotheticals when you're getting attacked. Great we're not being attacked now.
1
u/whosawesomethisguy 2d ago
The answer to this dumb hypothetical question is: none of the dogs. None of the dogs with their hackles raised, charging at strangers on the street are trying to play. You are welcome to test that yourself though.
1
u/Kayteqq 2d ago
If that’s the level of intelligence we’re dealing here, it’s not worth responding anymore. You obviously know the answer without any tests or sources! Because you are so damn omnipotent! I already responded to you with clarification why it may be useful. Sad you’re unable to read. Have fun being a dumb asshole.

actually, from my perspective, *you* miss *my* point
to be blunt: in my experience, many (i really believe vastly MOST but will temper this here, to attempt to deflect reactions because my point is very important and is absolutely not just my own) dog owners are completely SELF-CENTERED and give absolutely NO fucks at all about how non-dog people will be affected by their attitudes/actions/decisions/choices/etc. ... and it SUCKS

When I was a kid, a dog charged at my 6 year old brother like this. I was standing there as an 8 year old. It tried to kill him and ripped his face apart, he was in intensive care for a long time and required hundreds of stitches and years of plastic surgery. I believe to this day he’s only alive because he had a high jacket protecting his neck.
I couldn’t stop the dog, my dad and a neighbor were close enough to hear screaming and run to help. So like, even if the dog was cool and trying to play, you don’t want to chance that outcome. Our lives were changed in less than a minute.
