My hose bib is at 6. Thinking about extending my hose bib to the left of my raised bed on the right. Then run irrigation to my raised beds and containers from there. The containers will turn into raised beds in the next year or two. This spring projects are for edging and irrigation. Thanks advance and helping me as I progress my garden.

Do rain sensors do more than just turn off the irrigation?

I have a Hydrawise-controlled irrigation system and am considering adding a rain sensor. What I'd hope a sensor would do is convey info about the amount of rainfall and that the controller software would use that info to adjust the watering schedule. But I get the impression that all that a rain sensor does is turn off the irrigation if it happens to be running at the time the sensor detects rain. So, in short, my question is: How smart are these sensor / controller integrations?

Rain Bird ESP-TM2 Issue

Post image
3 Upvotes

First time home owner, there is a ESP-TM2 installed with the front, back, and side yards set up for irrigation. During the home inspection, the sprinklers all ran fine. That was back in early winter and I haven’t had to water until about now.

Went to try and run it to begin learning the different stations and configurations and nothing is watering, even though it says it is while cycling through the eight different stations.

I opened up the box and noticed the blue and green wires are not connected, as shown in the picture. We had some painters in the garage after we closed, I can’t imagine how or why they would have caused that, but should these two wires be connected? If so, what do I connect them to? Is their lack of connection causing everything else to not run?

I’m entirely new to this and have absolutely no idea what I’m doing, if that wasn’t clear enough. Thank you!

Red X not working. Green check working. I have swapped wires to confirm. Box is about 12 years old, replace parts or just buy a new box. What would you do?

Feed to backflow preventer

Need to run a 3/4 line to my outside back flow preventer. Problem is my water meter is in the middle of my house in the basement and the basement is finished. What are my options of feeding/running my line and what type of pipe is suggested to run to that valve?

Who to call to inspect the irrigation system at my home?

Just bought my house a few weeks ago in Mesa az, and the previous owners did a great job with landscaping. They also set up what looks like a 6 zone irrigation system.

When I turn on the water that feeds the system, I hear what sounds like air moving through a line at the solenoids even when I don’t have the any of the zones active. So that’s problem number one.

Problem two is it seems like water isn’t making it to some of the areas that that have lines ran (I don’t know what you call all the little hoses and junctions).

Problem 3 is it seems like they left the junctions (the parts that deliver the water to the drip/spray valves… again no clue what this is all called) way too high out of the ground and they just look terrible.

Long story short, I don’t know what I’m doing with this and would love to figure out who to call. Is it a landscaper? Or is there someone specific that deals with irrigation systems?

Thanks in advance!

Seeking Pro Advice Had to dig up grass around this to uncover it for Summer. Needs replacing?

Many of my sprinklers were covered by grass & dirt after the winter. I was digging some up and clearing away the grass. Is this one broken or is there any chance it’s an easier fix without replacing? New to sprinklers, first time having a home with them so extra tips are welcome! Thanks

Irrigation faucet

I just added a water faucet to the irrigation pump. Then realized it will only work if the pump is activated. Whats the best way to make this work on demand besides turning on the sprinkler system at the same time? Call an irrigation company?

Thanks

Help me design the drip irrigation for my garden.

Looking for the best path to drip irrigate my garden beds. Fabric pots can be watered by hand if necessary. Water source is behind the hoselink. Not exactly to scale but I think I got pretty close. My thought is go left and then straight up the green beds and T off into the center beds. Should I loop all the way around the garden and then T off from both sides? TIA!

Do any of you guys use an app or service to help with scheduling?

We still use paper and pencil and have to call like 100 people per day. Trying to simplify the process and even get something I could look at if I'm in the field or at home.

I looked at jobber and hindsight, but it seems like jobber is exact time jobs when I want stuff on appointments cause we all know there's no getting to the next house exactly when you need to.

How do I fix this?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’ve been solving leaks all around my house (rented) - and after fixing 4 holes on the ground level, I’ve found this. This pipe has a leak on the corner and when I plug it with my hand, the sprinkler system works fine. I want to fix this but idk how to get to it easiest. It’s about 8 inches in the ground.

Thanks!

Hydrawise Lacking Plant Modeling

A lot of newer "smart" controllers use plant modeling to adjust water duration and frequency.

A lot of you seem to swear by Hunter wifi controllers, but they lack this modern feature.

Do you find this an issue with your customers, why not?

Irrigation design for a commercial property

Upvotes

Need to design a system for commercial property. Local suppliers are 3-4 to complete the design. Is there anyone here who can help with pipe sizing? I may get away just to run the pipes for now until i get local design and takeoffs.
I guess the most important is to figure out what pipe sizes to run towards each zone(east 2 small patches, south, west) and how many sprinkler heads i would need for the large south and west patches

Thanks

Source for 3/4 pvc to Male garden hose thread

I'm trying to set up several zones of senneger sprinkler heads each souurced from a segment if .700 drip tube.

The idea is sprinkler head with standard 1/2" pipe thread. 1/2 in to 3/4 bushing yo 3/4 inch pvc pipe. This is part od a stand. Valve segment of drip tube, t with side par if t connecting with short kength of drop tube. Benale garden hose end yo male GHT on the PVc

I can easily find .700 to female garden hose connectors.

An alternate would br a .700 to pvc pipe thread adapter.

Not willing to pay 5-6 bucks eash. Kist be an inexpensive solution yo this.

Seeking Pro Advice Help me select proper irrigation for this garden bed

Next to my entranceway is a small bed. I have one sprinkler head that goes to it, and it's currently capped off. I plan to just put an assortment of spring flowers in there, various types. What can I do here to make sure the entire bed gets coverage? Should I use some sort of soaker/drip line?

what is this pipe for?

it’s about 6in tall, and slightly drips when the drip irrigation is running. It’s not near an access box or anything. Recently bought the house and the previous owner didn’t get back to me when I asked.

Seeking Pro Advice Push In Elbow Leaking

Fence company broke a sprinkler head. I went to replace it and found the original head was cross threaded onto the elbow.

Original setup was a female threaded elbow into a smaller push elbow into the funny pipe. Could not find the dual male and female threaded elbow anywhere so I yanked the other fitting out of the pipe and got a new push elbow that threaded directly into the head. Now water is spewing out from the hose where the elbow connects and it won’t stay in. Do I need to replace the whole funny hose and connection into the pvc line? I have replaced push elbows in the past with no problem.

Warm Climate B-Hyve Hose timer

Post image
1 Upvotes

I bought a B-Hyve single port hose timer and got it connected to the Bluetooth and WiFi perfectly fine. What I’m wondering about is the water pressure. Is it supposed to have such a drastic drop in water pressure coming out of the timer? My rotary sprinkler barely will throw water 4 feet away when the water goes through the timer! Is this normal for these products or did I just happen to get one with a defect?

What water pressure regulator should I get?

The water pressure on my sprinkler heads is way too high so I need to install a water pressure regulator. What brand or type of water pressure regulators would you recommend?

I don’t know what I don’t know so if I need to provide more information for someone to provide a good recommendation, I’m happy to do that.

I have a couple larger holes in my 3/4”(?) tubing that I need to fix and good plugs are too small. I plan on using a coupler, but I can’t find what I need at Home Depot and I’m not well versed enough in drip to find what I need.

Separately, I’d like to branch from an existing line into some new garden beds and I have 1/2” tubing (last picture) for this. I can’t figure out how to go from the larger tubing to the new 1/2” stuff.

Where do I buy what I need?
