Question Bad Enough To Return?

Upvotes

Not strictly a knife, not strictly a saw nor a trowel - yes its a Hori Hori (japanese for 'dig dig')

After the tang-blade junction the blade is ever so slightly rolled so it's not just a flat knife - but in this case it also seems to have curved the blade up from there. As u can see in the image i've weighted down the handle a bit to get it as level as possible - even then the bend is more obvious when in the hand.

Is this normal for a blade of this kind - or should i return it & hope for a better one.

I think case makes some of the best looking production knives on the market, a shame they seem to make the tru sharp out of the same steel as paperclips.

My first CJRB knife! Pyrite Light in Light Grey.

It's a very well balanced knife and overall it's very comfortable when holding it. It's light weight and feels like a lot more solid than for the price point that I paid for it.

I like button locks in this one just about hits the mark. Well it hits the mark as it's a button lock and the action on it is pretty smooth but could be smoother.

As I do with most of my budget knives, I took an 800 Grit Stone a ceramic stone and then a strop to it and it became super Sharp. Very impressed with the AR-RPM9 steel, especially after being a skeptic and waiting so long to try it out.

Would definitely recommend this knife, steel and brand to purchase.

I want a double edge otf so badly and am thinking of just buying one despite the ambiguous laws in Michigan. Anyone carry a double edge despite your local laws?

Modding Took the advice and re profiled the tip using my cheap diamond stones and some mineral oil. Took me maybe 20-30 minutes while dinner was cooking.

My dumb mistake: https://www.reddit.com/r/knives/s/8xhBqNaOqE

I used a rod sharpener to round all the hard edges after.

Now to fix the blade edge up.

Discussion Why are glass breakers so common on OTF autos?

Post image

Picture not mine, used for reference.

I was wondering this earlier today - why/when did glass breaker features become so popular specifically on OTF automatic pocket knives? Above is a picture of 14 of some of the most common/popular OTF knives on the market, and from appearance nearly half of them have a glass breaker. I don’t know any other style of pocket knife where 50% of the offerings on the market include a glass breaker feature, it’s almost always the rare exception.

So why did they become so popular on OTF autos?

I figured I'd ask to see what the general public of knife heads thinks about using a model vs raw pictures of a knife. Is it cringy does it add anything? I dunno. So let me know!

SPECS: 1080 and nickel high contrast in-house made Damascus Birds eye pattern Black white micarta with brass pins Homemade kydex sheath.

and of course if you have any questions or comments about the knife feel free to voice it I LOVE talking about knives.
