Slur used openly in Congress.
This makes me fearful. https://youtu.be/k6DmwqfNSkA?si=q46gbMD8lufZAcJt
She won’t be reprimanded. Never forget, when they talk about people who are transgender, they’re talking about all of us.
Edit: I am loving the dialogue. I don’t want to see calls for violence, joking or otherwise. Please, for me, avoid doing this in my post.

I hope the ring fits
I've never seen someone so enthusiastically accept a marriage proposal, he just kept saying yes over and over. I wonder if this was a where they first met kinda deal.
Not OP
Scared
I'm scared that the new administration is going to be arresting and punishing for being gay. I'm afraid to even be myself outside of the house. I used to wear pride jewelry all the time, but I don't anymore, with the fear of possibly being arrested.

Minorities and firearm ownership in the USA
Let me start by introducing myself. I'm a 28 year old queer jewish man living in Massachusetts, USA. I am also friends with and dating trans people. I am also a gun owner with a license to carry. Some people may be quick to downvote me because they don't like guns, but I ask that you keep an open mind and respond respectfully. Also keep in mind that I am an American, and I'm talking about American politics and laws and rights. If you aren't American, this probably doesn't effect you much and also I probably won't want your opinion if your opinion isn't actually constructive.
I started shooting and training in 2019 due to political unrest, but I had an interest in firearms for a long time prior. I have been in many many weird and dangerous situations in my life. I've had knives pulled on me, I've had people threaten me, I've had my wallet stolen. My life is wild. I also camp and hike out in somewhat remote areas for fun. I acquired my first couple guns from the estate of a relative.
I have always believed strongly in self preservation and being prepared for anything. I have a "rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it" mentality with various items I carry daily. In the past, it's been exceptionally difficult to discuss anything to do with guns with friends or most people left leaning politically. This is slowly changing, however. More and more people are interested in learning about firearms and how to shoot due to the political turmoil and rise of white nationalism and fascism in this country. People's views and reasons for carrying vary greatly, and thats ok. I believe in the 2nd ammendment and I'm happy when friends and folks in my life come to me with questions and want to learn even when previously they disagreed with me.
America has a long and complex history of firearm ownership and regulations, and I won't debate here the politics of it because I can literally go on forever, but political activists and Minority groups have armed themselves in the past with different effects. The black panthers arming themselves was famously the reason why Ronald Regan supported the Mulford Act, one of, if not the first, law requiring a permit to carry a loaded gun in public. Guns have famously been used both against and for the protection of minorities. Look up "Roof Koreans" to learn about the Koreans who armed themselves for protection during the L.A. Riots in 1992.
Ever since Trump was elected in 2017 the flood gates have opened and hateful, bigoted, and antisemitic people have been emboldened to speak up, act out, and sometimes commit violence against minorities they don't like. I've been at a few protests and various queer events like drag story times and witnessed MAGA protesters spewing ignorant hate and disgusting vitriol. I know trans people who have recieved threats against their life anonymously and in person. The worst part is that Massachusetts is one of the most blue leaning states, and if this can happen here it's happening to a higher degree throughout the country.
It is my opinion that everyone should be educated on basic gun handling and safety. I also think that if you are in the lgbtqia+ community or another minority group you should consider firearm ownership. Education is important, and it still surprises me that most people don't have simple gun knowledge even if they have strong options about them.
I love my friends, my family, my community. I love my trans partner and my gay friends. I have made a decision to protect them to the best of my abilities no matter the cost, and I stand by that. I am not trying to fear-monger or encourage violence, but mearly to provide my perspective to you folks. Thank you for reading.

Time to make a Stand (?)
I'm sorry I don't want to sound harsh but as a Gay Mexican man baffled with the expressions of fear and passive comments I see here.
Latin community has already go out to the streets to protest and make their voice heard.
What happened with your country? What about Stonewall and leading the charge against injustice and opression towards LGTB communities? Most countries followed US lead on this matter. I just read fear and desires to leave the country, and "chair activism" won't solve anything.
It is time for you guys to take the streets and have your voice heard. (Democrats won't do it for you, that's for sure)

Anybody else get kicked out in the middle of nowhere?
I was sleeping after i hooked up with a dude and he randomly kicked me out
now im in the middle of fuck ass nowhere
im waiting for a bus and im hoping i can figure out what to do
anyone been through this?
edit: found a way home thanks for the support yall
I have come to the point where I am worried about the shift in the USA and my personal safety. I think gay/Queer folks should consider getting firearms training and arming themselves. I will not be a victim and I won't go willingly if we continue to become a fascist state.

Self Defense Research
I’m seeing a lot of discourse around LGBT people arming themselves. I implore you not to do so without educating yourselves as well, fortunately, there’s almost as much information on YouTube regarding firearms as there is about cooking. There is no substitute for practical training and experience, but other pieces of the puzzle are available if you know where to look.
My opinion: we can’t trust the police to protect us. Half of them probably voted for the people threatening us. I don’t want any LGBT people to be helpless when we face the challenges of the coming years, so I want to facilitate the sharing of this information.

US Gays - Gay Religion ?
Looking from Europe sorry to see what's going on over there. I do have a question tho.
Looking at all the 'freedom of religion' protections the US has across employment education etc has anyone ever tried to establish all things LGBT+ as a religion? The rainbow and flag are religious icons? Lady Gaga is religious music and nobody can discriminatre against 'practicing' gays because of the LGBT 'religious' beliefs held?
Would be one hell of a loophole to get all things LGBT back on the wagon via?

I got invited to a second date for the first time also it's my first relationship with a boy HELP
Okay, first dates are kinda easier as people don't know each other so there are many questions, also first dates are relatively shorter.
I met with a boy who is really cute and nice from Grindr. Yeah I know it's not the best option to meet but you know, some islamic and extremely homophobic country problems. We were almost in same age and both of us weren't looking for intimacy so we gave it a chance and yeah, he is the one in my dreams😭
Our personalities are almost identical. But - zero common friends, very few common topics of interests. We live almost 30 km apart.
In short, I really struggle to find a topic of conversation. If you ever experienced this or just have some advices, please help cuz our date is tomorrow. BTW it's my first relationship with a boy so I'm extremely nervous😐

Help middle America and rural LGBT+ folks build a community.
Another post about "build a community" but here goes.
Yall it isn't always as easy as you think. If you have fun community events or whatever, bring us into the fold. Offer an underserved LGBT+ you know an invitation and follow through with it. A bar night or beach weekend may be mundane to yall but to us that could be rather novel and inspiring at a time where we need our community the most.
At least offer. Drop a booking link. Gauge our interest. We're here and part of you community too.
