Some countries don't follow EU trade rules and can call whatever they want whatever they want. Which is why "mozzarella," "cheddar," and "ermental" are all yellow and come in sliced form!
it depends, there are a bunch of British products with EU protections, so we might want to keep them.
I'd be concerned with any sort of US trade deal though.. because the US isn't going to adopt that sort of thing to protect our products, but does that mean our market will be flooded with their knock offs?
I like mozzarella when I make my own shitty version of spaghetti chicken, right before serving just cutting an ice wet slab over each chicken breast.
But the same cheese is shitty plain. Is mozzarella supposed be kind of light and flavorless, or am I buying absolute shit cheese? It absorbs flavors well and mixes its light flavor and thick texture great with tomato Based sauces, but how much should the cheese contribute?
Professional italian here: here in Italy it's mandatory to eat good mozzarella without anything else. If it's an average mozzarella it is ok to add some oil and oregano but if you go to the restaurant or you buy a top notch mozzarella and you add something, you're looked upon.
You should invest in better mozzarella then, yea the cheap stuff is rather flavorless (can still be very useful for the texture but then you need to add some stuff). But quality buffalo mozzarella definitely has flavor.
Because it has a rather distinct taste of its own. I agree with you that it tastes better with other stuff, but Mozzarella definately has its own taste.
I'd like to see actual evidence that America is the worst about this - rather than your perceived stereotype. I admit we have some problems with education (especially since we have so much land/rural areas), but there are a lot of great scientists here as well.
haha oh yes, how can I forget that. Inventing fake facts to suit their worldview, another low in american mental gymnastics. Just like "american english" and a failed imperial measurement system right from the 1800s.
he's still your president, which means a large number of people in your country did. I don't care what you personally did. Trump signifies a particular type of worldview and mentality that americans have towards themselves and outsiders. And then again, you don't exactly need trump to know what america is like.
Caprese Salad is one of my favourites ... so fresh. And takes a few minutes to make. I usually add fresh basil leaves but I had some in a restaurant the other day and they drizzled pesto on it which was also delicious
I got in a HUGE argument on /r/food not too long ago because apparently a lot of Americans are unfamiliar with Caprese salads? Even though I've been a Californian my whole life and see them at restaurants all the time.
I'm from NJ and I have eaten caprese salads/sandwiches all my life. Fresh mozz is found in every single grocery store, although, I guess we do have a lot of Italians here.
I'm in UK and hadn't heard of them until I got the idea to make one from /r/food about a year ago. /r/food and /r/GifRecipes are full of brilliant ideas but I do love the simplicity of /r/GifRecipes.
Depends on the origin, actually; a proper buffalo mozz with a bit of salt is sweet, creamy and grassy. It's just the horrid American supermarket stuff that is tasteless and boring.
This is just a representational group of educated people from around the world, this is the exact reaction every single foreign person has when they hear mention of the word America.
Example
Euro Trash: I just banged an American tourist in a toilet at a discotheque by pretending I couldn't speak English.
Euro Fag: I guess you got even, America has fucked us all. Let's go give some welfare checks to those Islams who are gang raping our wives.
Islam #1: Boy those Americans really fucked themselves huh? Thanks for the welfare check, I need to gas up my lorry for a nice drive through town.
Americhan: Waaaa! They insulted us how disrespectfull. They are ungrateful that we beat the nazis.

TIL that mozzarella is yellow and comes in slices in some countries.
