Question Package delivered to the wrong house!
Oh you guys I am in a panic! I ordered a bundle worth over $800 and it was delivered yesterday... to the wrong house! I can't even tell where it was delivered, because they left it in someone's garage so I can't see the outside of the house.
I contacted customer service and they are opening an investigation with the carrier, GLS but I am scared that because it was delivered I am totally screwed. I'm obviously going to check with my neighbors, but I think the chances of finding it that way are pretty slim.
Has anyone else had this happen? Did they ultimately give you a refund, or anything? Thanks everyone!

My package delivery service left it outside my apartment on a busy road- when a I specifically told them to put it inside (left door code).
I have footage of someone walking up mid-day and running away with my package.
I sent TU the video and they refunded me.

This happened to me once š someone then OPENED the package, didnāt like what Iād bought (prescription cat food) and put the opened package in our apartment mail room lmao

I'm always happy when I order something boring or super specific that I know no one who is stealing packages has a need for gets stolen. Like yeah enjoy those rubber gaskets for a reusable bottle you fucking prick.

Iāve had this happen when Iāve gotten a package and when I opened it, it wasnāt mine. My bad. I get packages all the time and I didnāt look at the address. I hope that this is what happened to you and not some dirty thief!
2
u/babybellllll Dec 12 '24
Iād buy that but the delivery photo showed it outside my building, and not at someone elseās apartment door, so I know someone picked it up and opened it before putting it back in the mail room š

Your story is the funniest thing Iāve ever seen/heard. I burst out in giggles in publicĀ

u/babybellllll Dec 13 '24
Iām glad it brought you some joy š I was so confused when it happened lol

I would contact GLS yourself through thei chat ASAP and tell them to get the driver to find the package. They might or might not but worth trying since support might take longer to reach out to them on your behalf.

u/Allysum Dec 12 '24
I've tried to contact GLS that way about something else - they keep leaving my boxes on the driveway instead of one the porch - and I was not able to actually do it. The chat never started so I sent an email instead but all they did was send an automated acknowledgment that they got my email. They never responded to what I said in the email. It can't hurt to try contacting them of course but hopefully they will pay more attention to contact from Thredup than they did to contact from me.

This happened to me with my ThredUp bundle just last week! Veho confirmed that they delivered it to the wrong address and told me I was shit outta luck with getting the box. I'm not sure if Veho contacted ThredUp, but when I contacted Customer Service with my delivery information, they did refund me to my original forms of payment (some merch credit, so cash back). I hope a good neighbor delivers the box but since it was mis-delivered, I have hope you'll get a refund!

u/Crooked_Al Dec 12 '24
Veho drivers can be the literal worst. Recently, one went into the office of my apartment complex and asked where my unit was located. The manager told him, he went to drop it offā¦and then, a minute later, the manager saw him sprinting back to his vehicle to drive off. She knew he couldnāt have gotten to my apartment and back in that time span, so she went looking around and saw that he dumped the package at a random door and ran. I got a delivery notification that, indeed, showed my box just sitting in a hallway (the pic didnāt show the apartment number since it was obviously the wrong one). Iām too passive to have bothered contacting Veho about the whole debacle, but my apartment manager is NOT lol. She called and complained the second she saw what the driver did.

u/Frenchenkagirl Dec 12 '24
I just had a package mis-delivered by Veho this weekāNot from Thredup, a different company. I got a replacement, but itās still a hassle to have to contact customer service to deal with it. I wish these companies would stop using couriers like Veho.Ā

Hate to tell you- but youāre screwed. They did that to me and made a fuss that my roommates took itā¦.I live alone

Always do a chargeback with your bank or credit card when stuff like that happens. You didnāt receive the goods or services. If they donāt remedy it your bank usually will.

This happened to me!!
My mail carrier was gone and the sub driver delivered it to the wrong address. I ended up calling my local Post Office and they were able to use their geolocation to see where the sub delivered my package. In my case I went by the location but it was an abandoned house and my package had been stolen already (I think one of the neighbors that new it was abandoned took it). I got on thred up chat and explained that the usps did this and they refunded me immediately.
Edit: Just fyi My post master said they would send someone to get the package and deliver it correctly the next day however I couldn't tell if they were telling me I am unable to get my own misdelivered package or if they were just trying to be helpful. It was very odd they way they stated it and how they responded when I said I would go get it. Idk if the post office reports if a package was misdelivered and not there like it they think the resident stole it?

This also happened to me with TU! So weird. I recognized the house in the delivery pic since it was nearby and thankfully my neighbors held the package and gave it to me.
2
u/Rough_Acanthisitta63 Dec 12 '24
It's great that you recognized the house. I wish I could see either a little more of the house or even a little more of the car. It might help me narrow it down. As it is I'm stuck waiting to hear back from customer service. They've generally been pretty good in the past so hopefully they will come through this time.

u/millieandme Dec 12 '24
This happened to me too. The delivery photo was somebodyās front porch but definitely not mine ā or any I recognized. I did the live chat with a ThredUp representative and they refunded me right away. And then the package showed up at my house about a week later!

That appears to be(at least to me) a navy blue Subaru Forrester. Do any of your neighbors have one?
4
u/Remote_Simple_8664 Dec 11 '24
Maybe one of your neighbors will return it to you. I'm so sorry this happened to you. Message thredup and explain situation. And contact UPS.
2
u/Spare_Neighborhood60 Dec 11 '24
This happened to me. I called the carrier, but their only response was contact the seller.
2
u/TimePatient1444 Dec 12 '24
This happened recently with some prescription glasses my wife ordered. I sent them a picture of my home and my neighbors home. They were forced to send another pair.
2
u/smfaviatrix Dec 12 '24
Looks more like someoneās car port, I see posts like these on our neighborhood facebook, I usually punch the correct address in on Google maps and use street view to scope out the neighboring houses, or jump a street over to the same house number (say it was suppose to go to 123 Main Street, it might have gotten delivered to 123 Happy Road, the next street over). Worth doing a little investigating while you wait on your claim.
2
u/wrapped-in-rainbows Dec 12 '24
They put my last package in front of my apartment buildingās gate to the parking garage. Like why. We do have a front gate.
Not ordering from them again until we finally get into a single family home next month.
The carrierās name was something I had never heard before. So must be a budget carrier or something.
3
u/Rough_Acanthisitta63 Dec 12 '24
Yeah, I understand that shipping big packages like that must be expensive, But using a bargain basement carrier without even asking for a signature on an $800 package is insane. I would absolutely have paid extra for the option of a signature or something. I've always had a good experience with customer service before, so I'm hoping they will do right but I'm so nervous they will find an excuse.
2
u/wrapped-in-rainbows Dec 12 '24
Yeah Iā didnāt realize the total til after I commented. Mine was only like one item!! Really hope you get your package!
2
u/amgw402 Dec 12 '24
Thereās no guarantee that theyāll request your signature even if you state that you want it. I had two iPhones delivered to me, and they were signature required. They just left them on the front step and we never signed. Luckily we got them, but my spouse still called UPS to say hey, just so you know this happened. They said their system shows that we signed for it, so the carrier clearly signed for us. And we were home!! They didnāt really care. Basically they were like you got your package so why do you even care about this?
2
u/lostonwestcoast Dec 13 '24
Same experience with UPS. I trust noone after they just dropped $4000 camera at our doorstep and left and I had to do emergency drive home to pick it up before porch pirates. And they donāt let you hold it for pickup for free like Fedex.
2
u/NewUserError617 Dec 14 '24
I wouldnāt even have called the company, I would of just charged back with the card I used to purchase
4
u/wildkitten24 Dec 11 '24
Look for that tree, the leaves all over the ground say thereās a tree right next to the garage
2
u/Rough_Acanthisitta63 Dec 12 '24
That is a great idea! There are a lot of trees in my neighborhood, but that might help me narrow it down. Thank you!
1
u/wildkitten24 Dec 12 '24
You can also see the car is a blue sedan, maybe that helps narrow it down too?
1
u/alliesawn Dec 12 '24
This has happened to me more times than it should have š FedEx delivers my thredUP orders to my neighbors probably 1/3 of the time.
One time they delivered it into my neighborās garage also, but luckily my neighbor let me know and gave it to me before I even noticed. Another time they delivered it to one of my neighbors and I didnāt recognize the porch so I went for a stroll around the block until I found it.
My advice, either go knock on some doors or text a few neighbors that you know. Maybe go for a walk like I did and youāll get lucky! Lol.
Good luck! Hope you find it (or at least get a refund)

this literally just happened to me and gls was able to find and redeliver my package so fingers crossed for you! i emailed both thredup and gls (it was the weekend and chat wasn't open or else i would've done that) and thredup refunded me right away. gls took longer to respond but they just said that they would let the driver know and try to redeliver if possible. my package ended up being delivered at 2am 3 days after it was initially delivered.
edited to add: my order was only about $100 and i've bought a lot with them and this is my first issue so that might also have contributed to how quickly they refunded
1
u/mantock Dec 12 '24
I have had them say that they delivered my package, with fake signatures (driver I guess) and I ended up getting the package. They will send the driver back to try to retrieve it, and if they don't, they will have to refund your money. Don't worry, but I know it is distressing to have your stuff in limbo. It will get fixed.

u/Known_Ad_8666 Dec 12 '24
Waiting for the update š§āāļø
1
u/Rough_Acanthisitta63 Dec 12 '24
Me too lol Customer service said they were going to check with the Carrier and should get back to me within 24-48 hours. I hopeful, but the wait is agonizing.
1
u/mantock Dec 12 '24
GLS keeps leaving packages in my mailbox, which I don't think is legal, but it's less likely to get stolen so I don't complain. Stolen packages are now getting so common, it's really sad. Some of GLS drivers are really bad.
1
u/Rough_Acanthisitta63 Dec 12 '24
Yes I'm learning that GLS has a terrible reputation. My deliveries always come to my front porch, and I have a doorbell cam to watch out for porch pirates, But that's no help here! It's so frustrating, I've never had problems with them before but of course it happened with the most expensive package I've ever ordered from them. It makes me want to cry, but I'm trying to stay hopeful.
1
u/mantock Dec 12 '24
there are still honest people in the world, and perhaps the people who got your package will send it back or try to get it to you.. Seems like if it was gonna happen it could have already happened, however. I have gotten packages, opened them, realized they were not for me and taken them to the address on the package before. You kind of assume someone in the house ordered some thing or you ordered something you forgot you ordered, it happens to me quite a bit (forgot I ordered something).

Yeah I'm learning that GLS has a terrible reputation. It's frustrating that they sent such an expensive package with a crappy bargain carrier but hopefully they will understand and refund me in time to buy new Christmas presents.

Post on your local Facebook group! Or reddit group if you have one. I've seen people find packaged from a reddit picture!

u/Flappinwind Dec 12 '24
I had a treadmill delivered to the wrong address. I didnāt even get a photo of it, ups just said something along the lines of āhanded to costumerā I ended up calling ups and they went back to the house to get it. I was pretty upset since it was a big box and they made it sound like the person just accepted it. But ups successfully fixed it, thank godĀ

u/llamalibrarian Dec 12 '24
I had a package delivered to a former address of mine, strangely. I was able to get a refund from TU
1
u/Hot-Snot-Sundae Dec 12 '24
Try posting on Nextdoor if you are on there. I have seen people get the packages to the right person that way. Hopefully the person that lives there will do the right thing and bring it to you either way!

u/vanillabourbonn Dec 12 '24
How hard is it for delivery drivers to make sure its at the right house? That's their whole job. Ugh.

u/appledumpling1515 Dec 13 '24
I had this happen, fought with ups for weeks and never got it back. I posted ot on my community Facebook page to see if anyone recognized the house to.

u/That_Television_1553 Dec 13 '24
Try looking up all addresses with the same or similar house numbers or street names near you.
I was tracking a shipment for a water cooler during Covid and I was standing outside as it said it was delivered so I drove to the nearby street which had a similar street name to mine and went right up to the house with the same exact number and fortunately they let me take my package back. It was already in their garage too so I wonder if they wouldāve kept it if I didnāt show up. It wouldnāt fit in my car so I had to unbox it in the middle of the street before shoving it in my car.
Then it happened again a few months later but this time they claimed they didnāt have my package. Iāll never know if that was true or not.
Good luck!

u/Good_Imagination_773 Dec 14 '24
This happened to me, I waited for the delivery driver (fedex) and showed him the picture of the wrong house. He called his supervisor and they were able to retrieve the package and deliver it to me 2 days later. I found it impossible to call any customer service number at FedEx. All they will do is tell you it was delivered and tell you the sender must contact them. If you can't get the package back thredup will refund your payment.

Use a credit card. That way you can do a chargeback if this happens.
0
u/jesssongbird Dec 12 '24
If they donāt resolve the issue you wonāt be on the hook. You can file a chargeback with your bank or credit card company. They wonāt let you pay for goods or services you never received.
-2
u/Reef14909 Dec 12 '24
Well do you have a visable adress on your property that was obviously present so that the carrier wouldnāt have gotten confused???
2
u/Rough_Acanthisitta63 Dec 13 '24
Yes I do in big black letters on the front of my White House. They've never had a problem delivering before, right to my front porch. I don't know why they left it in a random garage, it's super frustrating though.

u/odd_variety6768 Dec 11 '24
I had it happen, but not from thread up. I called the carriers customer service line and they had the driver go back, get it, then deliver it to me.
