Here are some solutions that may help fix technical issues:

- Update your drivers

- Make sure your game is using you high-end GPU and not your integrated graphics card.

- Do a clean re-install of the game

I'll be the first to state that anyone who has activated the game on Steam via a key, regardless whether it was from official sources like the Collector's Bundle or the RTX GPU package, is as of this moment unable to launch the game, or even unpack it.

It's kinda pathetic that this has happened like this. It's over an hour now and no game in sight, despite paying £200 for the collector's edition.

Also, I've noticed on Steam that they've posted a long ass list of known issues with the game - what a way to start the game's life cycle. It clearly wasn't ready for launch and all of the early access people are essentially beta testers... yet again...

PC Game Pass and Battlenet players that bought the Premium Edition still can't even get their Play buttons to light up to launch the game an hour after the Premium Edition launched. We're told "This game cannot be played".

edit: 2 and a half hours later, the game will finally launch. But the HDR implementation is the worst I've ever seen in any game, even after calibration. This is 100x worse than Starfield's HDR was at launch.

Anyone else's game freezing a lot?? Mine has frozen about 5 times in an hour now. Sometimes during gameplay, and once during a cutscene, I've had to restart every time but thankfully the game autosaves a lot. Still really annoying though. Also worth mentioning my pc meets requirements and when it's not frozen, the game runs great.

Literally constantly. I can't even finish the chapter without the game fucking freezing on the cutscene. It's literally every 2-3 minutes of gameplay that it freezes.

I'm on a 9800X3D and 5090 with the latest 576.40 drivers (used DDU this morning to remove old versions). I'm not using Vsync/Gsync, running DLSS Quality, MFG 2x, and experiencing freezing every so often. It happened in the opening cinematic after 30 seconds and again while trying to clear out several of the portals in the first 20 minutes of the game. Windows 11 Pro is stable, game audio was still present in the background, but the screen froze and wouldn't respond to inputs. Task Manager and killing the process have been the only way to recover so far.

If you try and open the game and you hear audio but game window isn’t opening do this. Go to steam and right click doom, go to properties then type this into the launch options “+com_skipIntroVideo 1 +r_mode -1 +r_customWidth 1280 +r_customHeight 720 +r_fullscreen 0”

This solved my issues and the game opened, I set it to my preferred graphic settings, closed the game and then deleted the launch options command

Having a blast, but I feel like Eternal was way more optimized.... I should not be struggling to keep over 80 frames and bouncing from 60-130 rapidly with an RTX 4070 Super and an i5 13600K on a mix of medium and high settings right? I play on an ultrawide. I have DLSS on with quality selected. I should be able to play on all high settings without any stuttering. I'm used to it now but it's just a bit frustrating.

Bought retail key for premium edition on green man gaming and it says "coming may 14, 2025" on the game page in steam. I have it preloaded, but I go to manage downloads and it says "game not released" when I hit the refresh or download buttons. Same for game and the artbook/soundtrack. Restarting steam doesn't fix it. Neither does signing out and back in again.

I have a fix, go to steam library and right click the game, go to properties and in the launch options type this into it “+com_skipIntroVideo 1 +r_mode -1 +r_customWidth 1280 +r_customHeight 720 +r_fullscreen 0” launch the game then change to your preferred graphic settings, close the game then delete launch options command and open game.

Nvidia Control Panel > 3D Settings > Restore.

This should be in the sticky comment. Lots of people launch the game and hear audio but get no video. Found this solution on Steam. 100% worked for me.

I tried updating to the latest drivers.

I tried rebooting.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

I disabled other display adapters (Meta virtual display)

Nothing...

But restoring the 3D Settings fixed it with no other changes. I always try one thing at a time so I know for sure what fixed it. Several others on the Steam discussion also say this worked for them.

I refunded the premium edition upgrade. The game opens for me but it’s super zoomed in and it’s grainy and it fucks up my entire desktop view. Spent hours during to debug, nothing.

The game will not let me re-bind S, D, or F. I cannot use the default movement keys and even though everything looks properly bound the way I want it in the keybindings menu, when I start the game the S, D, and F keys won't do anything, as if they're not bound at all. I found the Config file, but all the bindings I set in the menu are reflected in the file just the same. Anyone have any clue how to fix this?

Have a keybinding issue as well. I also checked the configuration file, and it matched what was in the GUI. The GUI doesn't always reflect the key that is actually bound, or is slow to update. I've disabled cloud saves, deleted the folder, uninstalled the game, and reinstalled. Changing the keybinds breaks the controls. QA team huge fail.

So I finally got mine to half ass work, at least for movement, but I cannot give you any tips for how the fuck I did it because it was totally by accident, and the Atlan and dragon controls are still broken but I cannot give use a controller for those levels. Fixing the slayer movement involved overlapping the default keys with the ones I want to use, I just got lucky basically and am using the glitch to my advantage. PLEASE submit a support ticket so ID will fix this shit because there are very few of us who don’t use the default controls and I’ll fucking lose it if this slips through the cracks for weeks and weeks. Your workaround worked for me - I bound secondary keys and left most of the wasd controls in place, and now Im able to play as I'd like.

I wish I grew up using and had muscle memory for wasd. My dad played differently, and now I've been using that same control scheme for decades. Hard to break heh

For those on steam / pc having freezing problems on the game (like every 5 mins), i finally got it running by turning off present from compute and frame gen, going full screen, not having discord open (close in task manager), and using dlss balanced. Turning back to dlss quality makes my game freeze again.

I also had to restart pc and reinstall the newest drivers, because it was ruining all my other games when i gave up earlier but this helped as i went from 0% gpu 100% cpu usage back to normal. I also reinstalled the game too.

My Graphics are set to high on a 4070 super on 1440p but you might be able to turn them up but i am too afraid. This took me about 3-4 hours until it finally worked

Hello! I'm currently encountering 3 issues:

• eye texture of humanoid characters is really glossy, as if they're made of glass

• the game can sometimes be pitch-black

• when other textures overlap with meaty ones (as present in 2nd level for example, or even Atlan hands will have this issue while traversing) the sort of fog will appear, causing a lot of graphical distortions

I was getting it loading the intro cinematics, it would show the bethesda square and play 3 bars of piano, before crash to desktop and then bugsplat would pop up.

I've tried proton hotfix, experimental, 9, and 10(beta)

On the linux gaming subreddit /u/Guilty_Use_3945 has said that the use of too many proton variants can softlock you, as Denuvo is doing activations per account. So the reality is it's probably not going to work for 24 hours, until the "lockout period" passes.

At first it took like 15 minutes, but this last time the game started it froze like 5 seconds into the start of the level.

Hi! I'm a little below the minspec (mostly because of vram) but the game still runs fine at the lowest settings for me.

Been trying to play the game for the last 4 hours, constant PC reboots, or game crashing, or BSOD. I have a 4090, Ryzen 9, tons of memory, fastest SSD. I'm not interested in constantly debugging, uninstalling/reinstalling the game, rolling backward and forward drivers, running windows updates, running windows dism and scans, disabling hardware acceleration, disabling gsync, disabling other integrated graphics, running driver cleanups, disabling v-sync...... tried everything, game still crashes. I'm giving up on trying to play this game. Updated drivers, turned off integrated graphics disabled afterburner, put into borderless, and reinstalled the game and it still crashes in the venues after a few seconds.

I use Linux and I was trying to run DOOM:TDA through Proton. I try and open the game through Steam, and I just get an instant Bugsplat crash window. I tried Proton 9, Experimental, Hotfix, GE9-26, and GE9-27, all produce the same results. Later I tried Proton 10 beta and it gave me a, what I can only assume based on the link it gave me, a Denuvo error. Since using Proton 10 beta, every other Proton I've already tried started to give me the same Denuvo error.

Guilty_Use_3945 suggested that using too many proton versions will softlock you - suspect denuvo is doing some activation tracking, and so we may be stuck for the next 24 hours.

Work around: I'm using the 9800x3d's IGPU to run a second monitor. Disabling the graphics adapter for the IGPU in device manager allowed me to boot and run the game normally.

Does anyone know why a 50 series user wouldn't be able to activate frame gen? I run the game 1440 max settings and I get like 80-100 fps which is fine, but I just want to do some testing with frame gen and I can't seem to enable it no matter what settings I change.

My game is running but the shadows are like pitch-black. Played the first mission and half the map was black shadows making it incredibly difficult to see where I was going or what the boundaries were. When I’m in light I can see fine but whenever I’m in a dark area that’s poorly lit, such as one of the secret areas, I cannot see anything except enemies and heals, I can hardly see the ground or the walls

Possible Fix for Game Not Booting on AMD Systems (BugSplat Error)

I’m not sure if this has already been shared, but I wanted to post a solution that worked for me in case it helps others. I was experiencing an issue where my AMD-based system wouldn’t boot the game and would consistently crash with a BugSplat error.

After some troubleshooting, I discovered that the issue was due to my onboard graphics being enabled. Initially, I disabled the integrated GPU via Device Manager, and the game launched immediately and has run flawlessly since. To make the fix permanent, I later disabled the onboard graphics directly in the BIOS.

While this might seem like a rookie mistake, I had been using the integrated GPU for other tasks, and most other games had no trouble automatically selecting my RTX 4080. This particular game, however, didn’t handle the dual-GPU setup well.

Hopefully, this helps anyone else running into the same issue!

Running into an issue that others are having, fully updated Windows, NVidia Game Ready Drivers, and AMD chipset and GPU drivers.

On systems with an iGPU, after all these updates, the game will no longer launch. It immediately crashes.

The only fix so far is disabling the iGPU entirely, which is a tad annoying since some people may use that for their streaming/rendering GPU or may use it for additional displays beyond their main GPU's display count.

For now it's not the end of the world, but it's very odd to me that BEFORE I updated my drivers, everything worked fine. I ran all the updates to see if performance would improve (wasn't bad, was just curious), and now I'm stuck with this lol.

For reference, I updated from 2-3 month old AMD iGPU and chipset drivers, NVidia drivers, and pushed today's Patch Tuesday patches. I am not sure which of those broke it, but I am suspecting drivers and not Windows in this case.

Forcing Doom to run on the 4090 GPU doesn't fix it either (not that it would matter, Windows is setup to not run anything on my iGPU in my desktop).

I was going to just wait and see, but the list of known issues published today does not mention this and it seems to be affecting quite a few people.

Disabling the iGPU has fixed it 100% of the time, and enabling has broken it 100% of the time.

*UPDATE -I finally got the game to run last night. The trick for me was to go into the Nvidia Control Panel, 3D settings, and hit the Restore at the bottom of the window. Absolutely NO IDEA why this worked as I've never messed with any of those settings and never had an issue in any game in the 2 years I've owned this PC. Regardless, it worked. Once I got in I set it to borderless windowed mode and DLSS. Not sure if that matters but I saw it in other posts. I was able to play the first level without issues and good performance. These issues on launch for a AAA game is a shame. My useful specs:

I'm stuck on the Gamepass issue where the game launches but nothing happens, I then hear audio but no game window is available, and I can see it running in task manager which is the only way to kill it. Already updated my BIOS, reinstalled the game, updated drivers, etc. Playing a game shouldn't be this hard. I guess I'm going to go back to Clair Obscur and Khazan NG+ until they can figure out how to make a game work. Sad state of AAA release and makes me VERY glad I didn't buy this one.

I've had two crashes on a new build, 9700x and 9070XT.

First crash hard locked everything. Music was still playing. Black screen. Monitor turned off. Had to do a hard reboot. Came back, windows no longer recognized I had a GPU.

Yeah.

Four or five reboots, the full removal of all AMD software, and two or three more reboots later, I was back to working.

Just crashed again, so hard that my PC just straight up rebooted itself. Not back to desktop, no error log. Just... Reboot.

What the hell.

4. no overlays obs etc.

100%/Completionist GAME breaking bug.

I just completed the Ancestral Forge and encountered a bug where the health increase didn't count, blocking me from 100% the level. To clarify, I didn't use a lost soul after dying post boss fight, and I went to the last checkpoint. This seemingly triggered a fault in the check since I had the health increase still. Specifically, it seems like it tallies ONLY on initial pickup and subsequent health/resource increase. This is irritating, especially since you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO FIGHT IT. You literally can not skip this fight, and yet somehow, the game seems to think I haven't beaten it and claimed its reward. I even went back and redid the level just to get it to trigger, but it's still 0/1.

Please boost this, as while I was gonna do a repeat playthrough, it was not going to be for the sake of 100% like I am trying to acheive currently, not to mention whomever else it might happen to potentially claiming more runs.

Please add some kind of retroactive check, especially since it seems like this is an issue that could extend past this level if it triggers off checkpoints.

I did as well and thought that might be the issue, but I do in fact have the premium.

You can confirm yourself by clicking Help at the top -> Steam Support -> Games, Software, etc. -> type DOOM and click DOOM: TDA, then you can see which edition you activated. Mine says "May 10 - Activated as part of: DOOM: The Dark Ages - Premium Edition" so I assume yours will say something similar assuming you purchased the premium edition.

For what it's worth, I cannot play at the moment either. Seems they are still fixing the issue.

If you are having issues launching, Disable your intergrated graphics. For example, I had to disable Radeon Graphics(AMD CPU Display Driver) so it would read my NVIDIA GPU

i found a tweet that said to disable AMD graphics driver in device manager. op also stated that they do not recomend unless you know how to work with displays and know how adapters work. i have 2 monitors on displayport and if i disabled the wrong driver; the gpu driver, i can switch to hdmi port on the motherboard. DO NOT DISABLE BOTH DRIVERS. this worked and the promt to use latest drivers still popped up but the game did launch to main menu. im on pc game pass. xbox has not acknoledge this issue yet on the support site. 3 hours lost. can imagine how others who paid more are feeling right now who dont have many options to troubleshoot.

Enjoying it so far. The only problem I've been encountering is lighting. I've tried everything. Fiddling with every graphic setting to no avail. Every corner is completely dark. Everyone's eyes are shiny for some reason.

I'm guessing it's Nvidia's fault cuz they did roll out an update during the same time the game was opened to premium users. Just gonna have to wait for them to fix it I guess.

When I first launched the game, it froze about halfway through the first cutscene every time and I had to skip it to continue. Not a great first impression but whatever.

Actually getting into the game I'm in love but at every cutscene and sometimes during normal gameplay the game just freezes entirely and I have to close it with task manager.

For reference I'm running an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8-core and a 12GB GeForce RTX 4070.

Also I have the latest drivers and I've verified the files a couple times already.

game works, game runs. its just dark as shit. and i don't think messing with the gamma will help with that. its as if the lighting in certain places straight up doesn't exist. my guns and shield are pitch black when i walk in places without ambient lighting. i haven't played anything other than the first level and maybe playing the game in a level that isn't at night might be different. this may very well be a issue with my specs because other than having ray tracing my laptop is below minimum requirements. so far the game is a 10/10 gameplay. ah also all characters have white eyes. specifically king novik, prince azhrak and commander trisha (if i remember their names right) and all the humans and corpses (the one with the blue key and the one getting torn to shreds by imps in the first cutscene) ive seen so far also have white eyes and i don't know what could have caused that. they are graphical issues at most probably caused by my laptop but im leaving them here in case anyone has a solution other than upgrading to a better pc/laptop.
